• Direct to Home (DTH) Receiver, Digital Video Disc (DVD) player, Digital<br />

Satellite Radio (DSR).<br />

• Mapping with PEOs:1,2,5,6,7,8<br />

Unit I<br />

Basics of Television<br />

(6Hrs)<br />

• Scanning process, Composite Video Signal, Horizontal Blank <strong>and</strong> Sync st<strong>and</strong>ard,<br />

Vertical Blank <strong>and</strong> Sync st<strong>and</strong>ard, Vestigial Sideb<strong>and</strong> Transmission, TV Channels<br />

<strong>and</strong> B<strong>and</strong>s, CCIR-B st<strong>and</strong>ards, Negative modulation, Inter-carrier Sound System.<br />

• Construction & working principle of CCD camera.<br />

Unit II<br />

TV Transmission <strong>and</strong> Reception<br />

• High Level modulated TV Transmitter, IF modulated TV Transmitter, Transmitting<br />

Antenna, Receiving Yagi Antenna, Block Diagram of Monochrome Receiver, Pattern<br />

Generator, <strong>and</strong> Wobbuloscope.<br />

• Basic satellite theory (Transponder), Cathode Ray Tube.<br />

Unit III<br />

Color TV Systems<br />

• Color fundamentals, Mixing of colors, Color perception, Color Characteristics,<br />

Chromaticity diagram, Color TV camera, Frequency Interleaving Principle, Color<br />

B<strong>and</strong>width, Chroma Signal Generation, Color Burst, Simple PAL & PAL-D System,<br />

PAL Encoder, PAL Decoder, CTV Receiver Block Diagram, Monochrome <strong>and</strong> Color<br />

Picture Tubes, NTSC, PAL, SECAM systems.<br />
