Team Teaching<br />

The school is organized in<strong>to</strong> teams. This allows a smaller school <strong>to</strong> be<br />

created within <strong>the</strong> larger school. There are two teams on each grade level. Each<br />

team is balanced in terms of numbers, types of students, and teachers. The team<br />

leader serves as <strong>the</strong> head of <strong>the</strong> team and <strong>the</strong> two teams on a grade level work<br />

cooperatively with one ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

A Typical Day and Student Schedule<br />

Every child receives his or her own schedule of classes. A typical student<br />

schedule will look like this:<br />

Period 1 – Social Studies<br />

Period 2 – Reading<br />

Period 3 – Math<br />

Period 4 – Music/PE/AIS<br />

Period 5 – Lunch<br />

Period 6 – English<br />

Period 7 –Home & Careers/PE/AIS<br />

Period 8 – Science<br />

After school - Clubs/Sports/Intramurals<br />

As you can see, your school day is full! The school day ends at 2:45 unless<br />

you are involved in extra-curricular activities.


Recommendations <strong>to</strong> Students<br />

You can make this school year a successful one by following <strong>the</strong>se simple<br />

recommendations:<br />

1. Arrive <strong>to</strong> school on time each day. Remember <strong>to</strong> go <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> appropriate<br />

area and use <strong>the</strong> assigned doors for entry.<br />

2. Be certain that you get <strong>to</strong> each class on time each day.<br />

3. Come <strong>to</strong> school prepared each day. Remember <strong>to</strong> bring your textbooks,<br />

notebooks, pens, and pencils.<br />

4. Remember <strong>to</strong> follow <strong>the</strong> school rules at all times.<br />

5. Treat all school property with care and respect. This also includes<br />

textbooks.<br />

6. Complete your homework assignments. Set aside a quiet place at home<br />

where you can do your homework.<br />

7. Learn your locker combination and keep it secret for your protection.<br />

8. Do not bring things like: I-Pods, phones, skateboards, scooters, etc.<br />

with you. They will be taken away.<br />

9. Treat all adults and fellow students with respect and courtesy.<br />

10. Do not let a problem develop. If you have any questions or concerns,<br />

see a teacher, your team leader, guidance counselor, or an<br />

administra<strong>to</strong>r as soon as possible.<br />

If you follow this advice, your school year will be a smooth and successful<br />

one. In most cases, common sense can solve most problems. We expect great<br />

things from you in your first year at <strong>Finley</strong>!
