DAY 1 h After arriving in Casablanca,<br />

transfer to the Meridien Royal<br />

Mansour or similar and overnight.<br />

DAY 2 h Morning visit to the old<br />

medina and Place Mohammed V.<br />

Take an optional guided tour<br />

around the Hassan II Mosque. In<br />

the afternoon, continue by road to<br />

Rabat and enjoy a tour of the old<br />

medina and Oudaya Kasbah. View<br />

the well-preserved minaret and<br />

The Mausoleum of Mohammed V,<br />

a historical building considered a<br />

masterpiece of modern Alaouite<br />

dynasty architecture containing<br />

the tombs of the Moroccan king<br />

and his two sons. Visit the Chellah,<br />

the remains of an ancient Roman<br />

city, and see the front of the Royal<br />

Palace. Overnight in Rabat at La<br />

Tour Hassan or L’Amphitrite Palace.<br />

DAY 3 h Drive to Tangier via the<br />

Grottes d’Hercule and Cap Spartel.<br />

Take in the sights of small tea<br />

houses, beautiful old buildings<br />

and ornate mosques. In Tangier,<br />

see the Dar-el-Makhzen (Sultanate<br />

Palace) – a 17th Century building<br />

overlooking the medina, now<br />

home to two museums, as well as<br />

the ancient Kasbah and souks.<br />

Dinner and overnight at the<br />

Andalucia or similar.<br />

DAY 4 h Morning drive to Tetouan<br />

in the valley of the Martil River and<br />

onwards to Chefchaouen. Arrive in<br />

Fes late afternoon. Dinner is at the<br />

Palais Medina or Jnan Palace<br />

where you will spend three nights.<br />

DAY 5 h Enjoy a full day sightseeing<br />

tour of Fes. Visit the old and new<br />

medinas, explore the souks and<br />

stop briefly to view the fountain at<br />

Palais Nejjarien, the ancient<br />

ramparts and the entrance to the<br />

Royal Palace. An optional threecourse<br />

lunch at a private palace in<br />

the old medina is recommended<br />

(extra cost locally).<br />

DAY 6 h Drive to Meknès and<br />

experience the sights of the city.<br />

See the Moulay Ismail Royal<br />

Stables, granaries and house of<br />

water. Drive to nearby Volubilis to<br />

see the Roman ruins. A final stop<br />

at the Moulay Idriss and a nearby<br />

vantage point offering panoramic<br />

views of this city. Return to Fes for<br />

dinner and overnight.<br />

DAY 7 h Depart for a full day drive to<br />

Erfoud. Ride in a four-wheel drive<br />

to see a wonderful sunset over the<br />

dunes. A camel ride is optional<br />

(extra cost locally). Tonight (weather<br />

permitting) stay overnight in a<br />

Bedouin style tented camp.<br />

DAY 8 h Breakfast under canvas<br />

before returning to Erfoud by fourwheel<br />

drive. Journey onwards<br />

through the Gorges of Todra and<br />

the Dadès Valley to Ouarzazate.<br />

Enjoy two nights at the Berbere<br />

Palace or similar.<br />

DAY 9 h Morning city tour of<br />

Ouarzazate. Visit the ancient Kasbah<br />

complex of Ait Benhaddou, said by<br />

UNESCO to be an historical treasure.<br />

DAY 10 h This morning leave for<br />

Marrakech via the Tizi n’ Tichkas<br />

Pass – over 6000 feet above sea<br />

level. In the afternoon, stroll<br />

through the famous Djemaa el Fna<br />

Square and explore the bustling<br />

souks. Two nights at the Atlas<br />

Medina & Spa or similar.<br />

DAY 11 h A half day guided tour of<br />

the historical sights includes the<br />

pretty Menara Gardens, the<br />

imposing 12th Century Koutoubia<br />

Minaret and the opulent Bahia<br />

Palace. Afternoon at leisure.<br />

DAY 12 h Breakfast before<br />

transferring to the airport ahead<br />
