Phonics/Grade 1<br />

This course is organized to help your first-grader achieve<br />

reading success. Your child will learn the letters <strong>and</strong><br />

sounds of the alphabet, practice vowel <strong>and</strong> consonant<br />

sounds; learn to identify beginning <strong>and</strong> ending<br />

consonants in words, <strong>and</strong> the sound combinations that<br />

make up words, learn rhyming words, match spoken<br />

words to print, <strong>and</strong> practice left-to-right <strong>and</strong> top-tobottom<br />

directionality when reading. Students new to this<br />

course must also register for Phonics/First Grade Reading<br />
