This course is open to individuals 19 years of age or older
demonstrating the ability to read and write in English at
the eighth grade level, and perform basic arithmetic
functions. The course is 60 hours in length and helps
prepare you to take the high school equivalency
examination. You will focus on reading, writing and
mathematics, and will receive information on college
admission as well. For more information, please call (718)

room E-249. To apply, you must attend one of the
registration dates below. If you are younger than 19 years

During registration, you must take a 35-minute reading
exam, a 20-minute math survey, and write an essay. In
order to enroll in the course, you must pass all three
exams.
The cost of the course is $240, which includes a
nonrefundable $15 registration fee. Students have a seat
in class only upon payment of the tuition. Leave check or
money order blank until completion of registration.
Students receiving public assistance, and those 60 years
of age and older pay $127.50, which includes a $15
nonrefundable registration fee. These GED courses fill up
quickly and seats are limited. For more information call

Para tomar el curso de preparación para el Examen de
Equivalencia del Bachillerato, el estudiante tiene que
tener 19 años de edad o más. También tiene que pasar
un examen en comprensión de lectura de 35 minutos,
tomar un breve examen de matemáticas de 20 minutos y
un breve examen de escritura. Sólamente los estudiantes
que tengan el nivel requerido en lectura, escritura y
matemáticas podrán tomar el curso. Consulte con su
profesor para obtener el título del libro y el precio.
Para poder tomar el curso tendrán que asistir a una de
estas matrículas en la fecha indicada. No se hace reservas.
La matrícula tiene una duración de dos horas. No se
presente tarde. Por favor traiga un bolígrafo y un lápiz a
la matrícula.

El costo del curso es $240, incluyendo $15 por la

I can say that this course has helped me to
develop a better knowledge of English, and
I never thought I would enjoy it so much.
Before I didn’t have any interest in using
English. Now, I feel enthusiastic about
reading newspapers, magazines and even
books. I can enjoy going to the movies in
English. I learned how to use a computer
and how to navigate around the world
using just a little mouse. I am very proud
that I have had the opportunity to be part
of this program because it changed my life.
So far, I can see excellent personal results.

GED Bridge to College for Deaf Adults
These classes are for Deaf adults with a 7th grade or
higher reading level. Instruction focuses on basic math,
reading and writing in the context of the subject areas
covered by the GED exam (social studies, science,
language arts, reading and writing). Classes meet for
three 3-hour evening sessions per week for three
semesters.
Come to information and assessment sessions in room
C-203 on December 8, 1-5 pm. You will take a reading
pre-placement test. If you qualify, you must then take the
five free GED predictor tests during the week of
December 8 - 11. RSVP for the information and testing
sessions to Roxann Richards-Chattoo at Program for Deaf

VP/TTY). If you've taken the GED exam before, please
bring your old scores. The cost includes books and
screening materials.
