Division of Adult & Continuing Education @ LaGuardia Community College English as a Second Language The English Language Center (TELC) is the largest ESL program in the New York City metropolitan area. Serving approximately 7,000 students a year and offering a variety of English language programs geared to meet the particular needs of our culturally and academically diverse student population, it includes full-time and part-time programs and specialized workshops for skill development and test preparation. Beginning, intermediate and advanced level courses are available, as well as a modern language lab facility. The Center issues I-20s to qualified students. If you complete the intensive programs, you will be eligible to enter CUNY without taking the TOEFL. ESL Payment for all ESL courses can be made with cash, money order or credit/debit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover) only. Registration may close at any time. Please register early. Advanced Grammar Workshop In this workshop for students who speak English very well but who want a comprehensive review of English grammar, you'll analyze spoken and written English to become familiar with the advanced structures of the language. You will also receive intensive practice in using these structures through a variety of exercises. The goal is to improve your ability to communicate by helping you understand how grammar communicates meaning. Through these activities you will expand your awareness of current issues as well as gain more confidence in expressing yourself in English.
