Promoting “Green” and Living It Too!
NY Designs not only teaches professional designers and architects how
to create greener products and make sustainability a priority for their
company; it lives by the philosophy as well. Its facilities, located on the
seventh floor of LaGuardia’s Center III building, were built using
sustainable materials, including carpet tiles made of recycled tires and
a kitchen counter top made from recycled glass by a local company in
Brooklyn. And all the studios have energy efficient electric systems.

Exploring Sustainability: An Overview of Green Concepts
Learn about sustainability in today’s changing environment in this new seminar presented
by the Center for Corporate Education and NY Designs. Delivered by sustainability expert
Catherine Barton, Corporate Director of Business Development at Green Depot, this
unique course, which explains in depth what it means to be "green," can be offered at

With over ten years of business and product
development experience, the overarching theme in
Catherine Barton’s work has been educating
business owners on more sustainable ways of doing
business. Prior to joining Green Depot, Ms. Barton
was the Director of Business Development at DFB
Sales, where she was responsible for "greening"
the company's 60-year-old identity, resulting in the
company being named NYC Manufacturer of the Year for its sustainable
product development. Previous positions include Executive Director of
Pinwheel Studio, and President of CAGE Industries, which was honored
as one of the 25 Fasting Growing NYC Businesses.
