Getting the Shot of a Lifetime<br />
Scott Sternbach<br />
<strong>LaGuardia</strong>’s <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s Director of Photography <strong>and</strong><br />
accomplished portrait photographer Scott Sternbach has received a<br />
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as the 2008 recipient of a National<br />
Science Foundation grant, allowing him to travel to the Antarctic<br />
region to photograph the staff of a federal project studying the effects<br />
of global warming. The grant is awarded by the foundation’s Antarctic<br />
Artists <strong>and</strong> Writers Program, which provides funding for art, research<br />
<strong>and</strong> educational initiatives to promote awareness <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
of the area.<br />
