Taxi & For Hire Vehicle Driver Institute
The mission of the Taxi and FHV Driver Institute is to increase the professionalism of drivers of Taxicabs and For Hire Vehicles licensed by the New York City Taxi and Limousine
Commission (TLC). We do this by offering programs that include driver-applicant initial training, continuing professional education, courses for those who violate TLC regulations,
and Department of Motor Vehicle point reduction classes. We also provide information concerning all aspects of professional driving, from acquiring to maintaining a license.
We work closely with the TLC in the conception, design and implementation of these programs.

* Official 80 hour training for the driver applicants who want and require
more practicaland detailed instructions for NYC medallion cabs
* Taxi and Limousine Commission testing
* Continuing Professional Education
* Courses for those who violate TLC regulations
* NYS Department of Motor Vehicle point and insurance reduction classes
* Yoga classes focusing on health issues of professional drivers
* Taxi English classes provide applicants with the necessary skills to pass the
TLC English Test

Defensive Driving Auto Insurance &
Point Reduction Course
Upon successful completion of this 6-hour class, you will receive up to 4 violation points
deducted off your New York State Department of Motor Vehicle license and up to a 10%
reduction in your automobile insurance premiums. This course is open to the general
public.

Yoga for Drivers
Drivers: Become a “Road Sage!” Take this yoga class, designed to deal with the stress
and other health issues of today’s professional driver. Change the quality of your life by
addressing the many health issues that arise from being a professional driver. The focus
of this class will be on subtle exercises designed to ease tense muscles, improve flexibility,
and maintain conscious control of nerves and muscles. Other areas of attention will be
proper breathing, relaxation, diet and positive thinking. You do only what is comfortable,
at your own pace and without strain. Please bring a mat to class, and inform the
instructor at the start of any medical conditions.
