believes warrant analysis in terms of how they might assist the Network in measuring its longterm

The Basic Economic Security Tables (BEST) Index
Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW) works nationally and in its home community of the
Washington, DC metropolitan area to build pathways to economic security and equality for
opportunity for women, families and elders. The Basic Economic Security Tables (BEST) Index,
created by WOW and the Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis,
defines economic security in terms of the income and assets workers and retired elders need to
meet their basis needs.
The BEST Index is specific to family size, ages of children, location and receipt of employmentbased
benefits. It includes the cost of living across the below domains.
