Djevojčica Koralina prolazi kroz tajna vrata u novom<br />
domu i otkriva alternativnu verziju svog života. Ta je<br />
druga realnost naoko slična njenom sadašnjem životu,<br />
ali je puno bolja. U trenutku kad njezina avantura postaje<br />
opasna, Koralina mora skupiti svu snagu i hrabrost<br />
da se vrati kući. Film je rađen različitim tehnikama, od<br />
zahtjevne stop-animacije do kompjuterske animacije, i<br />
maštovito dočarava "pomaknuti" svijet Neila Gaimana,<br />
autora knjige prema kojoj je rađen film.<br />
Henry Selick (1952) američki je redatelj koji radi u stopanimaciji,<br />
producent i scenarist. Studirao je eksperimentalnu<br />
animaciju na Kalifornijskom institutu za umjetnost,<br />
u klasi Julesa Engela, gdje je realizirao dva nagrađena<br />
studentska filma Phases i Tube Tales. Nakon što je 1977.<br />
diplomirao na CalArtsu, radio je u Disneyu kao fazer i<br />
animator-vježbenik. Godine 1979. posvećuje se vlastitom<br />
projektu, filmu Seepage (1981), koji radi u stop-animaciji i<br />
animaciji na celu, no ponovno se vraća Disneyu i preuzima<br />
vizualni razvoj raznih projekata. Godine 1990. radi Slow<br />
Bob in the Lower Dimension, spoj igranog filma, stopanimacije<br />
i kolaža, koji je privukao veliku pažnju i pružio<br />
mu priliku da režira dugometražni film u stop-animiranoj<br />
tehnici, Predbožićna noćna mora (1993). Kasnije su<br />
njegove vještine i režija još jednom zablistali u filmovima<br />
James i divovska breskva (1996) te Majmunarije (2000).<br />
A girl named Coraline and her parents have recently<br />
moved. While bored, but needing to pass the time away,<br />
Coraline explores her new house. There she walks through<br />
a secret door and emerges into an alternative version of<br />
her life—a better version, wonderful and thrilling, and less<br />
dull. But when this fantastical adventure turns dangerous,<br />
Coraline must count on her determination and bravery to<br />
get her back home. Coraline is not just a fairy-tale, but<br />
a nightmare steeped in classic storytelling, craftsmanship,<br />
and the old-fashioned art of moviemaking magic.<br />
Henry Selick (1952) is an American stop motion director,<br />
producer and writer. He studied at the Program in<br />
Experimental Animation at California Institute of the<br />
Arts, under the guidance of Jules Engel where he made<br />
two award-winning student films Phases and Tube Tales.<br />
Graduating from CalArts in 1977, Selick at Disney worked<br />
as an in-betweener and animator trainee. In 1990, he<br />
made Slow Bob in the Lower Dimension, which combined<br />
live action, stop animation and cut-out animation.<br />
It attracted a lot of attention and led him to direct<br />
the full-length stop-motion film, The Nightmare before<br />
Christmas (1993). Years later, his skills and direction were<br />
called upon to complete James and the Giant Peach<br />
(1996) and Monkeybone (2000).<br />
