PEACEHAVEN 6 - 1 SOVEREIGN SAINTS U12
Last game of the season - and they don’t come much harder than taking on Peacehaven,
who have swept aside all in storming to the league title with a 100% record. The scoreline
may make it look like the hosts had it all their own way, but the truth is they most certainly
did not, especially in a very closely contested first half which Saints dominated for the most
part, and were it not for Peacehaven’s prolific top scorer Myles Bickmore-Vaughn who
bagged all of his team’s goals the result could well have been very different. Saints started
strongest, firm in defence (especially Zac Bracken and Angus MacDonald), creative in
midfield (Toby Williams had a great game) and dangerous up front (Niles Lambourne gave
the Peacehaven back line plenty to think about). They were at their attacking best when
they got they ball out wide to Joe Sambrook who spent the whole of the first half tearing into
the Peacehaven defence. Peacehaven opened the scoring against the run of play on 14
minutes, but Saints heads did not drop and within a minute they were level, Marcus Parrett
skillfully weaved his way past a handful of desperate defenders before sending MoM Joe
Sambrook on another marauding run down the left which was completed by an inch perfect
cross into the path of Danny Dean who finished with a low shot at the near post. It looked
like it was going to remain level until half time, but alas Peacehaven scored just before the
interval, and again 2 minutes into first half stoppage time. Saints had to contend with playing
against a fierce and freezing second half wind, but did so admirably and despite Myles
(Peacehaven) scoring a second half hat-trick to go with the one he got in the first half Saints
can hold their heads high, not only for this result but for the fine season they have had,
much of which was spent in the top two. By scoring today, they ensured they have scored in
every league game this season.

SAD NEWS FROM INSIDE SAINTS
It is with regret that I can announce a number of people will be leaving the club over the next few weeks. I hope this is
not the last we see of these people and extend an invite to them to return to the club in the future.
Bill Simons
Bill has decided to move on after 2 and a bit years with the club. He will be leaving on 30 th April. When Bill joined the
club we only had a handful of Soccer Tots and Mini Kickers. He took over the coaching in this area and successfully
created one of the best, if not the best coaching sessions for youngsters starting out on their football careers. As well
as this Bill looked after the central kit purchases, equipment purchases and help stock the club shop. He had a spell
on the committee and took on the Club Welfare role. Bill also looked after the girls section and drove this forward into
what it is today. Finally Bill was a mentor for new coaches as well as existing, and put on some superb training days.
Obviously we are very sad to see Bill go, but he feels the time is right to move on to look at other projects. I have
gone on record to say every club needs a Bill and he has certainly been a breath of fresh air to us.
These are certainly big shoes to fill within the club. I would like to thank Bill and his understanding wife Susan for all
they have done for the club.
An announcement re replacements for Bill’s roles within the club will follow shortly.
Doug Gray and Sean Stewart
These gentlemen have run our Under 13 squad this season and will be leaving when their last game is played next
week.
Stepping up to run a handful of players 3 years ago, Doug and Sean have done a first class job of putting together a
squad of players to compete at this level. Starting off in the Rother League before moving on to the Sussex Sunday
they have gone about their work quietly and professionally. I am again sad to see them go and thank them for all they
have done.
Paul Buckle
To complete the people leaving, Paul Buckle will be leaving after the summer tournaments. Paul stepped up to
running a squad at Under 10 last year and put together a very capable squad of players. Keen on getting the team fit,
he has gone about his job well with his squad holding their own place in mid table at Under 11 this year.. I thank Paul
and his Son Lewis who is also leaving all the best for the future. An announcement re Paul Buckle’s replacement will
be made shortly.
With these people leaving this means we have several positions available. I am now on the look out for a Club
Welfare Officer, Soccer Tots coach and Girls manager as well as a manager for Under 14 in season 2013-14.
If anyone is interested in filling these positions, please contact me on p.garnell213@btinternet.com
CHAIRMAN PAUL GARNELL SAYS
I must stress that although it is sad these people are leaving, the show
goes on and its business as usual for all squads. I have been working hard
over the holiday to make sure things run as normal although you may see
different coaches taking the squads affected. I will notify you of all
changes as when full time appointments are made. Keep the faith folks. Up
the Saints
