A Ukrainian Summer: where to go, what to do...
Plast offers summertime adventures and educational experiences
by Andrea Zharovsky
PHILADELPHIA – Spring is the season
when we start thinking about summer
plans and when members of Plast begin
to dream of their adventures at summer
camps.
Plast summer camps are essentially
sleep away camps held in a natural setting
where nature beckons all with its beauty
and romance.
A longer stay immersed in nature is an
integral part of Plast Ukrainian Scouting
Organization’s educational program; a
Plast member’s experience and self-confidence
grows through physical activity
and spiritual inspiration, and a connection
to nature. Camps are among the best educational
tools and perhaps the most interesting
part of the Plast program.
Plast camps are a place for children
and teens to release energy and rest from
school, while developing scouting and
community virtues, an orderly way of life
and self-discipline. Camps foster initiative,
creativity, a love of God’s creations
and leadership skills.
Young children, too, need a healthy
and friendly environment with exposure
to other children that will help develop in
them an open and joyful attitude toward
life and to the world around them. Thus,
“Tabir Ptashat” provides an excellent
opportunity for young children, age 4-6,
to share their days with their peers amidst
in nature, explore the world around them,
and grow through the proven educational
methods and traditions of Plast.
