Napier Redevelopment<br />
<strong>The</strong> redevelopment of <strong>Mainfreight</strong> Napier is<br />
fast approaching completion. <strong>The</strong> changes<br />
comprise an extensive dockway extension,<br />
total refurbishment of the office including a<br />
new canteen, and sealing of operational areas<br />
around dockway. We take possession and<br />
move in to our new offices on Saturday 16<br />
June.<br />

<strong>The</strong> phenomenal growth of on line trading<br />
from websites such as “Trade Me” has put a<br />
lot of strain on our raters, receptionists and<br />
operations teams as people approach us to<br />
move their sometimes unusual purchases<br />
around the country.<br />
<strong>The</strong> types of freight and level of enquiry was<br />
becoming quite a big problem for us.<br />
<strong>The</strong> entire team have made a fantastic<br />
contribution to ensuring our customers have not<br />
been affected during the building programme<br />
which created severe constraints to our dock<br />
areas and depot. Our owner driver and store<br />
teams deserve special mention for the many<br />
extra hours and effort.<br />
<strong>The</strong> increase in workable covered dock is to<br />
2100 square metres which we can work on all<br />
sides.<br />
It’s fantastic to add another world class facility<br />
to the New Zealand network.<br />
Things to do better<br />
Banish the word “NO” from our<br />
vocabulary; “Yes of course we<br />
can do it” makes us easy to do<br />
business with.<br />

<strong>Mainfreight</strong> Precision, our national home delivery<br />
and fragile freight network, has embraced the<br />
issues and created an online solution that makes<br />
us substantially easier to deal with.<br />

“cash sale” customers to get on line quotes,<br />
book a pickup and pay by credit card from the<br />
comfort of their homes.<br />
From small beginnings the team are handling<br />
around 100 consignments a week from all<br />
around the country; we are really excited about<br />
where this initiative might take us!<br />
