University of Wisconsin-Stout Support Services Planning, Assessment, Research and Quality 2012-13 Fact Book Mission: The office of Planning, Assessment, Research and Quality is responsible for strategic planning and accountability, institutional research and assessment, the Applied Research Center, quality initiatives and university policies. We employ a participatory, collaborative planning process and rigorous approach to research and assessment. Decisions are informed by data and reflect the needs of UW-Stout and our external clients. Our dedication to continuous quality improvement promotes intelligent risk taking and innovative thinking university-wide. Our transparent approach to sharing data and information demonstrates accountability to the university and the public. Highlights (2012-13): Institutional Planning ‣ 2 new university priorities were initiated. Phase 1 of a supplemental compensation program was implemented, reallocating approximately $650,000 for salary adjustments. ‣ 10 action plans were approved, with a total of 32 action items across all plans. ‣ The Engagement Sessions were offered in a new format for the second year, with approximately half of all faculty/staff attending. A total of 17 university-wide action items were implemented based on the feedback. ‣ All colleges/major units completed strategic plans and presented them to the Chancellor’s Advisory Council. ‣ 9 policies were revised or developed, and 2 more policies are in the review process. ‣ More than 70% of performance indicator targets met or on track to be met by 2015. Analysis ‣ The following projects were completed: o 14 university-wide surveys o 11 external surveys o 120 IR projects completed by PARQ staff o 164 graduate student projects completed o 431 projects completed by PARQ students Office of Planning, Assessment, Research & Quality 93
University of Wisconsin-Stout 2012-13 Fact Book o 10 participants in PolyDASHER o 22 data lead requests ‣ Survey Clearinghouse and Qualtrics Question Library are being utilized and continuously updated. ‣ Research help webpage launched with multiple resource documents created. ‣ Information portal had over 8,000 page views, and received an updated interface that matches the new Stout website. ‣ Program facts completed for all graduate programs and continue to be completed for undergraduate programs. Applied Research Center ‣ The following projects were completed in 2012-2013: o 37 internal projects o 13 external projects ‣ Increased the amount of projects by 43 from inception in 2007-08 to 2012-13. o Revenue increased by $203,064 from 2007-08 to 2012-13. o Project tasks increased from 68 in 2007-08 to 1,066 in 2012-13. ‣ Published one article in StoutQuest. ‣ Marketing services hired to assist with external client marketing. ‣ Facebook and LinkedIn marketing tools were enhanced. ‣ Presented at AIRUM conference in MN. Qualtrics ‣ There are 1,455 registered Qualtrics users at UW-Stout. ‣ They have generated 7,960 surveys for use in research, course evaluations, and a wide variety of other applications. ‣ In 2011-12, over 80 faculty, staff and students attended group trainings on how to use Qualtrics. ‣ The Qualtrics Training and Support office responded to more than 360 individual requests for assistance and training. Quality ‣ A Baldrige Committee was formed with 14 current members. The focus of the committee is to become familiar with the Baldrige principles and criteria, present at various quality-related venues, be responsible for identifying opportunities for UW-Stout to implement best practices, and to identify new practices to continue to follow the Baldrige philosophy. ‣ The representatives from the committee presented at two quality-related conferences this year. ‣ Four ESURC reviews were completed.
