New Freshmen Pr<strong>of</strong>ile<br />

Highlights (Fall 20<strong>12</strong>):<br />

‣ 3,388 new freshmen applied to UW-<strong>Stout</strong>, 2,419 were admitted and 1,473 enrolled for a 71% acceptance rate and a 61%<br />

enrollment rate for admitted applicants.<br />

‣ The average high school GPA for new freshmen was 3.1 and the average high school rank percentile was 61%.<br />

‣ The average age <strong>of</strong> the new freshmen was 18, with a range from 17-39 years.<br />

‣ 99% <strong>of</strong> new freshmen were full-time, 62% were <strong>Wisconsin</strong> residents, 48% were female, 2.8% were Asian American, 0.8% were<br />

African American, 0.4% were American Indian, 0.8% were Hispanic, and 2.8% were two or more races.<br />

‣ 70% <strong>of</strong> freshmen students who began in <strong>2011</strong> were retained in 20<strong>12</strong>. The retention rate for women was 74% and the retention<br />

rate for minorities was 66%.<br />
