able to focus better on their studies as a result <strong>of</strong> counseling. Outcome assessments consistently show that a majority <strong>of</strong> students<br />

experience significant reductions in distress symptoms if they attend 4 or more sessions <strong>of</strong> counseling.<br />

‣ Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Program: 1) Between 250-400 students cited for underage drinking annually attend an evidencebased<br />

moderation skills class and/or a 3-session assessment and feedback intervention with a counselor; follow-up assessments<br />

show significant reductions in high-risk drinking behavior and negative consequences. 2) All freshmen students now complete webbased<br />

AOD self-evaluations that have been shown to reduce high-risk drinking and marijuana use; 3) Outcomes <strong>of</strong> the Campus<br />

Alcohol Education and Enforcement Plan show several positive trends: decreased numbers <strong>of</strong> alcohol-related disciplinary <strong>of</strong>fenses,<br />

increased numbers <strong>of</strong> students choosing to abstain from alcohol, and decreased consumption levels among students who choose to<br />

drink.<br />

‣ Campus Violence Prevention Project (CVPP): Served 19 student victims <strong>of</strong> dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking during fall<br />

20<strong>12</strong>, the final semester <strong>of</strong> this Department <strong>of</strong> Justice grant-funded program. Worked out a campus contract with The Bridge to<br />

Hope in Menomonie to continue providing services to victims <strong>of</strong> sexual violence and to participate in campus prevention<br />

programming.<br />

‣ Testing Center: Administer approximately 2,000 paper-pencil tests including UW Placement Exams (Math, English, and Foreign<br />

Language) for freshmen and Praxis exam for education majors; administer approximately 400 computer-based tests annually,<br />

including CLEP, MAT, and IT certification exams.<br />

Dean <strong>of</strong> Students Office<br />

‣ Provides services and consultation for students who have encountered academic or behavioral difficulties; assists students who have<br />

unexpected illnesses or other emergency or disruptive events; serves as point <strong>of</strong> contact and referral for complaints and requests for<br />

assistance by faculty, staff, students and parents; leads the Students <strong>of</strong> Concern Risk Assessment Committee; provides general<br />

leadership to Student Services division and advises the <strong>Stout</strong> Student Association.<br />

‣ Requests for assistance or information includes 552 disciplinary incidents, special circumstance university withdrawals for 38<br />

students, support to students and staff for 314 student emergencies/absences, and risk assessment coordination and follow-up for 69<br />

students.<br />

Disability Services<br />

‣ The Disability Services Office believes that disability is an aspect <strong>of</strong> diversity. The <strong>of</strong>fice serves as a resource to students, faculty,<br />

and staff and provides support to the entire campus. The mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fice is to ensure that students with disabilities have equal<br />

access and opportunities to all programs and services on campus. The main <strong>of</strong>fice is located in 206 Bowman Hall. The testing<br />
