Grant Scholarship Aid was distributed to deserving ASPIRE students.<br />

Career Services<br />

‣ Career Services provides comprehensive state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art career and employment related support to students and alumni. Career<br />

Services include resume, interviewing, and networking skills development; career counselors who hold individual appointments<br />

with students; employment site development for Cooperative Education opportunities; web-based databases and resumes; oncampus<br />

employer interviewing and Career Conferences. Some <strong>of</strong> the online resources provided by Career Services include<br />

Interview Stream, EmployOn, Reference USA, Going Global, Career Spots videos, Vault Career Insider, and The Big Guide to<br />

Working Abroad.<br />

‣ UW-<strong>Stout</strong>’s Cooperative Education Program is centrally coordinated through the Career Services Office in collaboration with the<br />

academic departments <strong>of</strong> the university. In <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong>, over 927+ students participated in the Cooperative Education Program at over<br />

600+ employment co-op sites. All co-op positions are paid opportunities ($13.15 average hourly wage), taken for academic credit,<br />

and are related to a specific career or major. Students participate in co-op opportunities in over 35 states each year as well as<br />

international co-op sites.<br />

‣ Career Services coordinates a large Career Conference each October which is the largest in the Midwest. This conference has<br />

specific majors featured each day and attracts more than 250+ employers, with participation <strong>of</strong> over 600 employer representatives<br />

and 2,500+ students during this three day event. The Career Services <strong>of</strong>fice builds relationships with many employers who come to<br />

campus for on-campus interviews; sends resume books electronically to employers; and centrally coordinates employer relations for<br />

co-op site development with employers. These activities resulted in an overall employment rate for <strong>2011</strong>-20<strong>12</strong> UW-<strong>Stout</strong> graduates<br />

<strong>of</strong> 97.3%. UW-<strong>Stout</strong> graduates have an average employment rate <strong>of</strong> 97% for the past 10 years.<br />

Counseling Center<br />

‣ Counseling and Outreach Services: Pr<strong>of</strong>essional counselors provided counseling and crisis intervention to nearly 600 students in<br />

20<strong>12</strong>-13, representing a 20% increase from recent annual averages. Developed a peer-educator program entitled 4 The Health <strong>of</strong> It<br />

that combined with pr<strong>of</strong>essional staff to deliver more than 150 presentations to over 5,000 students, faculty, staff, and parents on a<br />

variety <strong>of</strong> mental health, alcohol/drug, and relationship topics. Approximately 400 students annually complete anonymous mental<br />

health screenings <strong>of</strong>fered on our website. On service evaluations, 80-85% <strong>of</strong> counseling clients indicated that counseling helped<br />

them make improvements on the issues for which they sought help, and 75% who were struggling academically reported they were<br />
