University of Wisconsin-Stout 2012-13 Fact Book processes graduates, provides enrollment verifications, and assigns classroom space. Registration and Records also ensures academic eligibility for our student athletes and provides benefit services to our student veterans and active duty military personnel. During the 2012-13 academic year, Registration and Records received two “Models of Efficiency” awards from University Business magazine citing the advancements in our transcript ordering and processing service as well as our expedited graduation and diploma printing processes. In concert with goals of Enrollment Services, Registration and Records strives to maintain integrity of all core functions, collaborate and engage with the campus community to effectively and efficiently meet the needs that lend support to the mission of the institution. Registration and Records also strives for creativity, innovation, and enhancement of services to meet an ever changing marketplace. Financial Aid The Financial Aid Office provides financial resources and information to students pursuing post-secondary education at UW-Stout. It is located on the second floor of Bowman Hall (the “Clock Tower Building”), in room 210. The Financial Aid Office helps students and their parents navigate through the stressful and often confusing journey of paying for college: from filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), to state and federal funding information, scholarship information, and Student Employment. The Financial Aid Office strives to be the premier provider for financial aid services with a customer-centered approach, and continuously seeks to improve the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the financial aid process. During 2012-13, the Financial Aid Office processed 9,876 Financial Aid applications and updates, and awarded 7,167 students. Customer service continues to be the primary focus and the 2011 ACT Student Opinion Survey summary stated that Stout is statistically higher than two of the three comparison groups in seven areas. Of the seven, two areas are operated under the Financial Aid Office and they are: Student Employment services (1 st ) and Financial Aid (4 th ). Office of Planning, Assessment, Research & Quality 111
University of Wisconsin-Stout Support Services International Education 2012-13 Fact Book ‣ The Office of International Education assists and coordinates international activities throughout the university, including: o Facilitating student exchange and study abroad programs o Recruiting and providing support services for international students o Assisting faculty and staff in international efforts ‣ The Office of International Education (OIE) sponsors programming that helps students, faculty and staff broaden their own global perspectives. Whether you are a UW-Stout student interested in study abroad or an international student coming to UW-Stout, the OIE can assist you in accomplishing your international education goals. ‣ In fall 2012, UW-Stout had 241 international students from 42 nations. In spring 2013, UW-Stout welcomed 50 additional international students. During spring 2013 international student enrollment raised to 255. Percentage of Bachelor's Degree Recipients who Studied Abroad^ ‣ In 2012-13, UW-Stout had 289 students studying 18% abroad that participated in 43 different study abroad 15% programs, 15 of which were faculty led programs. 36 12% students participated in domestic programs, 24 of 9% which participated in the National Student Exchange program and 12 in domestic faculty-led programs. 6% ‣ UW-Stout offers 58 different study abroad programs throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America, 3% 0% Oceana and Africa. 07-08 08-09 09-10 10-11 11-12 ^Partial semester & domestic exchange programs are included.
