University of Wisconsin-Stout Support Services Student Life Services 2012-13 Fact Book Student Life Services (SLS) at UW-Stout houses a wide diversity of departments including: SLS Administration, Campus Card and Technology Services, Sports Complex, University Centers (includes student activities and leadership programs), University Dining Service, University Housing, and University Recreation. SLS operates 11 buildings valued at over $100 million and with a gross area of 813,493 square feet. Primarily these departments are selfsupporting, meaning not from taxpayer funds. SLS makes extensive use of student employees providing nearly 850 students with jobs that help pay their bills and at the same time affords valuable hands-on professional experience. A few facts about each of the SLS departments are highlighted below. To find out more about these operations log onto: http://www.uwstout.edu/services/stulife/ Campus Card & Technology Services ‣ The Stout OneCard is the official university card that serves as a one-card solution for identification, e-commerce, security and access functions. ‣ We issue approximately 2,400 Stout OneCards to students, faculty and staff annually. ‣ Students deposit over $2.7 million into their on-campus debit accounts annually. ‣ Technology Services supports the IT initiatives of Student Life Services departments including Campus Card, Sports Complex, University Centers, University Dining Service, University Housing and University Recreation. Sports Complex ‣ The Sports Complex features a 49,000 square foot multi-purpose gym that has four full size basketball courts, 200-meter track, six tennis courts, six volleyball courts, an indoor swimming pool, lighted soccer field, six lighted tennis courts, two hardwood gymnasium floors, lighted multipurpose fields, baseball field, lighted softball field, 400 meter track and field. ‣ Don and Nona Williams Stadium features a synthetic turf field with seating capacity of 4,500 spectators and VIP seating for 480, heated press box and full concessions. ‣ Engagers book approximately 7,000 reservations in the Sports Complex annually and over 400 reservations in Williams Stadium. University of Wisconsin-Stout 2012-13 Fact Book University Student Centers ‣ University Student Centers manages two campus buildings: o Memorial Student Center (94,217 sq. ft.) and Merle Price Commons (74,132 sq. ft.) ‣ In 2012-13, the Memorial Student Center and Price Commons hosted 10,047 meeting and event reservations totaling 24,042 event hours with 231,740 attendees. ‣ University Tickets sold 12,592 total tickets (via web, service center and at the event) for a total of $63,745. ‣ The Involvement Center serves the needs of 149 recognized student organizations and their leaders. ‣ The Involvement Center uses OrgSync as a comprehensive student organization management system, which has 15,280 users, 149 student organization portals, and 12 department portals. ‣ The Involvement Center processed 169 event contracts, totaling $129,854 for student organizations and departments. ‣ 12,289 students, staff and guests attend 65 entertainment/cultural events sponsored by Blue Devil Productions. ‣ Ally Initiatives for Civil Rights and Civic Responsibility are events that engage participants in dialogue about gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, veteran status, socio-economic status, sustainability and the environment. In 2012-13, over 1,100 people attended or participated in Ally Initiatives events (films, speakers, volunteer activities, dialogue projects, speak-out events). ‣ Ally Initiatives also hosts two AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) members through Wisconsin Campus Compact. VISTA members engage students, faculty and the community to address local poverty issues through civic engagement collaborations focused on regional food security projects and technology training for low-income residents and the agency staff who serve them. ‣ 23 local agencies have established portals in the OrgSync VOLUNTEER HERE! on-line system. They engaged the campus and community with the promotion of nearly 300 volunteer opportunities in 2012-13. University Dining Service ‣ Dining operations are university owned and operated. Annual budget is approximately $8.9 million. ‣ Multiple Services are provided out of three facilities on campus: Merle Price Commons, Memorial Student Center, and North Point Dining Center. Workforce: 38 full-time staff; 400 part-time and student staff. ‣ Customer Service Overall Benchmarks – o EBI Ranking – Food Overall: Survey score 5.3 at Stout vs. Industry Average of 4.7 o National Association of College & University Food Service: Annual Rating 3.9 at Stout vs. Industry Average 3.9 Office of Planning, Assessment, Research & Quality 106
