The Human Resources (HR) Office’s mission is to “serve the university by providing quality service, pr<strong>of</strong>essional guidance, strong<br />

leadership and effective counseling in the ethical management <strong>of</strong> human resources.”<br />

The HR Office <strong>of</strong>fers a number <strong>of</strong> services to the <strong>University</strong> Community, including but not limited to the following:<br />

‣ Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity to promote equality and fairness in terms and conditions <strong>of</strong> employment<br />

including hiring, promotion, training, and other efforts.<br />

‣ Unclassified Human Resources administration, including recruitment, hiring, employment contracts and renewals, position titles,<br />

salary placement, and performance evaluations.<br />

‣ Classified Human Resources administration, including recruitment, hiring, transfers, position reclassification, and performance<br />

evaluations.<br />

‣ Classified, Unclassified, and Student Payroll, payroll processing and assistance with paid time <strong>of</strong>f including vacation, sick,<br />

personal leave, and holidays, employee data changes and reporting, lump sum payments, background checks, and other payrollrelated<br />

issues.<br />

‣ Benefits enrollment and assistance including retirement; tax-sheltered annuity; health, life & income continuation insurances; new<br />

employee benefits orientations; benefit termination information and COBRA continuation; flexible spending accounts; life event<br />

changes (i.e. marriage/domestic partnership, divorce, birth/adoption, etc.) and Worker’s Compensation.<br />

‣ Employee Training and Development efforts including planning and coordinating campus training events such as: The <strong>Stout</strong><br />

EDGE program, Supervisory Leadership and Development Program, the New Employee orientation program, Search and Screen<br />

Committee Training, and Adult Career Minority Exploration Programs.<br />

‣ International Employee Immigration assistance including advising departments and processing immigration-related documents in<br />

compliance with immigration laws and regulations.<br />
