Our mission is to promote a healthy and safe environment by providing quality services to the campus community.
Police, Parking & Transportation
‣ The UW-Stout Police Department is a fully certified law enforcement agency that provides 24/7/365 uniformed patrol coverage of
the campus. The members of the department are dedicated to community policing concepts to assist all people in the university
community to maintain safety, security and resources for crime prevention.
‣ The Campus Safety Report (known as the "Clery Act" report) is compiled annually and includes information on campus policies,
guidelines, and crime statistics. The report is available at: http://www.uwstout.edu/hs/upload/2011-Clery-report.pdf
‣ The Parking & Transportation office serves students and employees alike by providing a wide variety of parking options, as well as
services for local transportation around campus. Currently, there are over 3,000 parking spaces, with nearly 1,700 of these parking
spaces dedicated to student resident parking. For faculty and staff, pricing options are available for reserved-, or commuter- parking
permits.
‣ In 2011, Parking & Transportation teamed up with the Stout Student Association to start a new shuttle bus service on campus. The
shuttle runs from September through mid-May, and serves students. See http://ssa.uwstout.edu/bus.asp for a listing and map of
routes and times.
Safety & Risk Management Services
‣ Safety & Risk Management Department (S&RM) is dedicated to making the campus a safer place at which to learn and work. The
department also works to minimize risks to the university. The department manages insurance coverage for property loss or
damage, general liability issues, and with UW System, employee workers compensation. The value of our facilities and contents on
the UW-Stout campus is currently over $403 million.
‣ S&RM manages over 500 new drivers’ authorizations annually. These are required state forms that allow staff and students with
good driving records to travel on university business and to use university vehicles.
‣ S&RM conducts safety training sessions (for both staff and students) on many different subjects, including asbestos, biosafety,
bloodborne pathogens, chemical hygiene, ergonomics, hazardous waste, lifting safety, personal protective equipment and more. In
2010-11, nearly 1,100 people were trained in our classes.
