Shodair Welcomes New Board of Trustees Members
This summer, six new members were appointed to the Shodair Children's Hospital Board of Trustees.
All are Helena residents, and will serve three-year terms.
Dr. William Hasquet
A native of Shelby, optometrist Dr. Bill
Hasquet graduated from Carroll
College with a bachelor of arts degree
in combined sciences in 1993. He
received his doctorate in optometry in 1997 from
Southern California College of Optometry and became a
partner at Montana Eyecare in Helena in 1998.
He currently serves as President of the Montana
Optometric Association and is also a member of the
American Optometric Association.
Janet Hedges
Ms. Hedges is a certified financial planner
with Raymond James Financial
Services, Inc. She has been in the
financial services industry since 2000,
specializing in working with businesses and individuals to
achieve their retirement planning and investment goals.
A graduate of Carroll College, Ms. Hedges earned her
degree in business administration with concentrations in
management and finance.
Representative Galen Hollenbaugh
Mr. Hollenbaugh has represented
HD81 since 2006. He works for the
Montana Department of Labor and
Industry, where he is Operations
Bureau Chief for the Business Standards Division.
A graduate of the University of Montana, Mr.
Hollenbaugh earned his bachelor of arts degree in political
science and his master's of public administration. He
served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Montana Secretary of
State Linda McCulloch from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that,
he served on the executive staffs of Attorneys General Joe
Mazurek and Mike McGrath for a total of 12 years.
Dr. Joel Maes
Originally from Anaconda, Dr. Joel
Maes attended the University of
Montana where he studied chemistry
and pre-medical science. He received
his dental education at the University of Minnesota.
Following graduation, Dr. Maes joined the U.S. Navy and
underwent additional clinical training in San Diego,
California. He has practiced in Helena since 1981.
Dr. Maes is a member of the American Dental
Association and the Montana Dental Association.
He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists,
the International College of Dentists, and has achieved
a Mastership designation in the Academy of
General Dentistry.
The Reverend Daniel B. Shea
Father Dan Shea was raised in
Anaconda. He graduated with honors
with a degree in classical languages in
1965 from Carroll College, where he
began studying for the priesthood in his junior year.
He began his career in 1969 as principal of Bozeman
Rosary High school. In 1978, he was assigned to Carroll
College, where he has served in a variety of roles,
including Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of
Students. He is currently an Associate Professor of
Classical Languages and also serves as pastor of Our
Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish in Helena.
Father Shea obtained his masters of education degree
in counseling from Montana State University in Bozeman
in 1976, and his doctorate degree in higher education/
personnel administration from Boston College in
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts in 1984. He earned his
certification as a chemical dependency counselor from
the State of Montana in 1999.
J. Edward Surbrugg, Ph.D.
Dr. Ed Surbrugg is a senior soil
scientist, reclamation specialist, and
operations manager for two Montana
Tetra Tech offices. He has 30 years of
professional experience managing and providing
technical expertise for large, multidisciplinary
environmental projects at sites throughout the western
U.S. and Mexico for government and private clients.
After earning his undergraduate degree in range
ecology from Colorado State University in 1979, Dr.
Surbrugg received his master's degree from Montana
State University in land rehabilitation in 1982 and his
doctorate in soil physics from North Carolina State
University in 1992. Dr. Surbrugg is a certified
professional soil scientist through the National American
Registry of Certified Professionals in Agronomy, Crops,
and Soils (ARCPACS).
