Autumn 2012 - Shodair Children's Hospital

Alexis' mom, Kim Butterworth, also visited the
hospital. “I wish someone had referred us to
Shodair when we were trying to get a diagnosis
for Alexis,” she said. “I'm glad that more people
are talking about conditions like Asperger's than
there were when Alexis was referred from
provider to provider.”
As part of the Miss America Organization's
partnership with CMN Hospitals, Alexis also
serves as a goodwill ambassador for Shodair.

held two carwashes and
BBQs over the Memorial
Day Weekend. Despite
the rainy weather, the
students raised $620 for
Shodair’s kids.
Shodair Community Involvement
March for Babies
Team Shodair braved chilly spring weather on May 5 at the annual
March of Dimes' March for Babies in Helena. Shodair was a sponsor
of the event, which supports research and programs that help moms
have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives.
Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure
Once again, Team Shodair took part in the Komen Montana Race for
the Cure on May 19 in Helena. This year marked the Susan G. Komen
organization's eighteenth year of fighting breast cancer in Montana.
Monies raised through Race for the Cure help fund grants, education,
and early detection activities throughout the state.
NAMI Walk
Shodair Children's Hospital was a sponsor of the NAMI Walk,
coordinated by the Montana Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental
Illness to raise awareness and funds for Montanans living with serious
mental illness. NAMI Walk 2012 was held September 23 in Helena;
Team Shodair had nearly 40 walkers and raised over $700.
Relay for Life
Nearly 30 hospital employees, family members, and friends joined
together to form Shodair's first Relay For Life Team on August 3 in
Helena. The team's campsite was decorated with paper bag luminarias
painted by the hospital’s patients. Team Shodair raised nearly $1,000 to
fight cancer and was a sponsor of the event.
