Tune in to our
next telethon on
Saturday, June 1,
2013 on your
local CBS TV
station and make
miracles happen
for Montana's
children!
Left: Erin
and Samantha
Faulkner with
host Katie
Stukey.
There’s no
better way to
give and receive
than to make a
gift that helps
others at this
time of year.
Viewers were touched by the stories of Samantha Faulkner,
Montana's 2012 Children's Miracle Network Champion, and her
mom, Erin Faulkner, who have both been followed by Shodair's
genetic specialists for a condition known as Stickler Syndrome.
Returning hosts included Montana broadcast personalities Amanda
Venegas from Billings, Katie Stukey of Great Falls, and Russ Thomas
of Missoula. Joining the fun this year as new hosts were Shannon
Newth of Helena, Ted Dawson of Bozeman, and Miss Montana
2011 Veronika Ohlinger of Red Lodge. The Miss Montana program,
through its association with the Miss America organization, supports
Shodair and Children's Miracle Network fundraising efforts. The Miss
America organization has selected Children's Miracle Network as its
national platform.
For the third time in Shodair's telethon history, the total pledges
during the event topped the half-million dollar mark, coming in at
$550,769. Last year, Shodair Children's Hospital provided more
than $3.4 million in uncompensated care and services to Montana's
families. Nearly 60% of Shodair's patients come from lowincome
families.
The telethon is made
possible by the efforts of
hospital staff and volunteers
who graciously contribute
their time to make the event
possible. Local businesses
donate food to feed the small
army, whose members arrive
early on the morning of the
telethon and work until 1:00 a.m. While producing the telethon is a
lot of work, everyone enjoys the event and the opportunity to work
together for a most important cause: Montana's kids.
Autumn 2012
As we unwrap gifts and
wrap up another year,
this is the time when we
think most of others. The
familiar saying reminds us
it is “better to give than to
receive.” As the year winds
to a close, take time to make
sure you have given to
yourself by giving to others.
Your gift can go a long way
toward helping Montana
children. This holiday
season, take a moment
and consider the gifts you
would like to make, then
make them happen.
Call us at (406) 444-7560
or 1-800-447-6614 if we
can be of help to you in
your giving.
