The BMW Junior Seat I-II ISOFIX is approved for
children with a body weight of 9-18 kg. It may be
used with a three-point seat belt for children who
weigh up to 25 kg.
Under the new ECE R44 03, the ISOFIX system
has been supplemented with a top tether and is
suitable for universal installation with this.

Technical information
- ISOFIX is a standardised interface for securing
child seats in vehicles. The securing system has
been specially developed for children with a
body weight of up to 18 kg and therefore
includes child seat groups 0, 0+ and I. It creates
a safe, permanent connection between the child
seat and the car’s body.
- Advantages over conventional child seats:
Straightforward, very easy installation of the child
seat in the car. The rigid connection and the top
tether almost totally rule out the possibility of the
child seat swinging or tipping over.
- The child is secured in the seat using the impact
table and the integral belt system.
- The BMW Junior Seat ISOFIX can also be
used in cars without ISOFIX mountings. In
this case the seat must be secured using
the three-point seat belt.
- Crash properties: The crash values have once
again been massively improved compared to the
previous BMW Junior Seat system. This is due
in large to the rigid connection of the seat to the
car’s body and the top tether as well as targeted
action to reduce the forces that affect the child’s
body.
Information about homologation
- Appendix 6 of the new ECE-R 44 03 regulates
the possibility of a universal homologation for the
ISOFIX system by law for the first time. The
BMW Junior Seat I-II ISOFIX there receives
universal homologation if it is used with ISOFIX
for all vehicles in which it can be secured with the
top tether.
- The seat can also be fitted in cars made by the
BMW Group that do not have the lashing point
for the top tether without this top tether.
- If the BMW Junior Seat ISOFIX is used in the
conventional way, in other words the seat is
secured using the three-point seat belt and not
using the ISOFIX mountings, the seat also has
universal homologation and can be used in any
vehicle.
Requirement
• The requirement for using the ISOFIX
connection is the existence of the ISOFIX
mountings in the car. If they are not fitted in the
car as standard, tell customers about SA470
when they buy a new car since ISOFIX
mountings can only be installed in certain current
models.
- In contrast to competitive products, the BMW
Junior Seat ISOFIX also includes Group II
(15 – 25 kg, approx. 3.5 – 7 years). When it is
used as a Group II seat, the impact table is not
used. The child is then secured in the normal
way using the three-point seat belt.
- All the materials, particularly the textiles, are
saliva-fast.
- High quality materials. The padding is made of
high quality EPDM, not polystyrene.
