The <strong>BMW</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> I-<strong>II</strong> <strong>ISOFIX</strong> is approved for<br />

children with a body weight of 9-18 kg. It may be<br />

used with a three-point seat belt for children who<br />

weigh up to 25 kg.<br />

Under the new ECE R44 03, the <strong>ISOFIX</strong> system<br />

has been supplemented with a top tether and is<br />

suitable for universal installation with this.<br />

for all models<br />

Technical information<br />

- <strong>ISOFIX</strong> is a standardised interface for securing<br />

child seats in vehicles. The securing system has<br />

been specially developed for children with a<br />

body weight of up to 18 kg and therefore<br />

includes child seat groups 0, 0+ and I. It creates<br />

a safe, permanent connection between the child<br />

seat and the car’s body.<br />

- Advantages over conventional child seats:<br />

Straightforward, very easy installation of the child<br />

seat in the car. The rigid connection and the top<br />

tether almost totally rule out the possibility of the<br />

child seat swinging or tipping over.<br />

- The child is secured in the seat using the impact<br />

table and the integral belt system.<br />

- The <strong>BMW</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> <strong>ISOFIX</strong> can also be<br />

used in cars without <strong>ISOFIX</strong> mountings. In<br />

this case the seat must be secured using<br />

the three-point seat belt.<br />

- Crash properties: The crash values have once<br />

again been massively improved compared to the<br />

previous <strong>BMW</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> system. This is due<br />

in large to the rigid connection of the seat to the<br />

car’s body and the top tether as well as targeted<br />

action to reduce the forces that affect the child’s<br />

body.<br />

Information about homologation<br />

- Appendix 6 of the new ECE-R 44 03 regulates<br />

the possibility of a universal homologation for the<br />

<strong>ISOFIX</strong> system by law for the first time. The<br />

<strong>BMW</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> I-<strong>II</strong> <strong>ISOFIX</strong> there receives<br />

universal homologation if it is used with <strong>ISOFIX</strong><br />

for all vehicles in which it can be secured with the<br />

top tether.<br />

- The seat can also be fitted in cars made by the<br />

<strong>BMW</strong> Group that do not have the lashing point<br />

for the top tether without this top tether.<br />

- If the <strong>BMW</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> <strong>ISOFIX</strong> is used in the<br />

conventional way, in other words the seat is<br />

secured using the three-point seat belt and not<br />

using the <strong>ISOFIX</strong> mountings, the seat also has<br />

universal homologation and can be used in any<br />

vehicle.<br />

Requirement<br />

• The requirement for using the <strong>ISOFIX</strong><br />

connection is the existence of the <strong>ISOFIX</strong><br />

mountings in the car. If they are not fitted in the<br />

car as standard, tell customers about SA470<br />

when they buy a new car since <strong>ISOFIX</strong><br />

mountings can only be installed in certain current<br />

models.<br />

- In contrast to competitive products, the <strong>BMW</strong><br />

<strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Seat</strong> <strong>ISOFIX</strong> also includes Group <strong>II</strong><br />

(15 – 25 kg, approx. 3.5 – 7 years). When it is<br />

used as a Group <strong>II</strong> seat, the impact table is not<br />

used. The child is then secured in the normal<br />

way using the three-point seat belt.<br />

- <strong>All</strong> the materials, particularly the textiles, are<br />

saliva-fast.<br />

- High quality materials. The padding is made of<br />

high quality EPDM, not polystyrene.
