Cutting Instructions
Please note: except where noted, all strips are cut across
the width of the fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge.
From the orange bats, cut:
(1) 4 ½" strip. Recut into (6) 2 ½" x 4 ½" pieces.
(1) 2 ½" strip. Recut into (12) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
From EACH of the purple bats and
purple circles, cut:
(1) 4 ½" strip. Recut into (10) 2 ½" wide x 4 ½"
high pieces and (4) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
(1) 2 ½" strip. Recut into (16) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
From the hot pink spiderwebs, cut:
(4) 1 ¼" strips. Trim (2) strips to 42 ¼" and (2) strips
to 27 ½" for the first border.
From the orange spiderwebs, cut:
(1) 4 ½" strip. Recut into (2) 2 ½" x 4 ½" high
pieces and (12) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
(1) 2 ½" strip. Recut into (16) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
From the gray spiderwebs, cut:
(3) 2" strips. Recut into (9) 2" x 11" and (4) 2" x 2 ⅝"
sashing pieces.
(4) 1 ½" strips. Recut into (12) 1 ½" x 11" sashing
pieces.
From the dark orange pumpkins, cut:
(1) 2 ½" strip. Recut into (16) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
From the black pumpkins, cut:
(5) 2 ½" strips. Recut into (80) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
(6) 2 ¼" strips for the binding.
(3) 2" strips for the left and right side second borders.
(2) 1 ⅞" strips. Trim each strip to 30 ½" for the top
and bottom second borders.
(1) 1 ½" strip. Recut into (18) 1 ½" x 2" cornerstones.
(4) 1" strips. Trim (2) strips to 42 ¼" and (2) strips to
26" for the flange border.
From the orange circles, cut:
(1) 4 ½" strip. Recut into (8) 2 ½" x 4 ½" pieces.
(1) 2 ½" strip. Recut into (16) 2 ½" x 2 ½" squares.
From the printed motif squares, cut:
(2) 2 ⅝" wide x 23" long lengthwise strips from the black
stripes with the printed bats running next to the
selvage edges of the fabric.
(6) 11" x 11" squares with a printed halloween motif
centered in both directions in each square.
Sewing Instructions
All seams are sewn using 1/4" seam allowance with
pieces held right sides together and raw edges even.
1. Using the quilt pictured on the cover and the assembly diagram on page
2 as guides, stitch together (3) 2" x 11" gray spiderwebs strips and (2) 11"
printed motif squares, alternating the strips and squares, to make (1)
11" high x 26" wide block row. Repeat to make a total of (3) block rows.
2. Stitch together (3) 1 ½" x 2" black pumpkins pieces and (2) 1 ½" x 11"
gray spiderwebs strips, alternating the black and gray pieces, to make (1)
1 ½" high x 26" wide sashing row. Repeat to make a total of (6) sashing rows.
3. Stitch a 2" x 2 ⅝" gray spiderwebs sashing strip to each short end of each
2 ⅝" x 23" printed bat black strip, cut from the printed motif squares
yardage, to make (2) printed bat strip rows.
4. Sew sashing rows from step 2 to the top and bottom of each block row
from step 1. Stitch together the block rows and the printed bat strip rows
from step 3, alternating the two types of units, to complete the quilt center.
5. To make the flange units, press each 1" black pumpkins strip in half,
lengthwise, wrong sides together. Using 1/8" seam allowance, sew a 42 ¼"
prepared flange strip to the right and left sides of the quilt top, raw edges
even. Repeat using the prepared 26" long units to add a flange border to the
top and bottom.
6. Stitch 42 ¼" hot pink spiderwebs strips to the left and right sides of the
quilt top. Sew 27 ½" pink spiderwebs strips to the top and bottom to
complete the first border.
7. Trim the selvages from the 2" black pumpkins strips and sew the strips
together end to end to make a long 2" strip. From this long strip, cut (2)
43 ¾" lengths. Sew these lengths to the left and right sides of the quilt top.
Stitch 1 ⅞" x 30 ½" lengths to the top and bottom to complete the second
border.
8. Stitch a 2 ½" black pumpkins square to one short end of each orange
and purple 2 ½" x 4 ½" piece.
9. Stitch 2 ½" orange and 2 ½" purple squares to opposite sides of a 2 ½"
black pumpkins square in the arrangement and quantity listed below:

10. Using the quilt pictured on the cover and the assembly diagram below as guides to correct placement, stitch together (12) black square
units from step 9, (6) purple units from step 8 and (5) orange units from step 8, alternating the orange and purple step 8 units with the
black square units. Repeat to make a second pieced border unit that is a mirror image of the first. Stitch these pieced borders to the left and
right sides of the quilt top, noting orientation.
11. Repeating the procedure from step 10, stitch together (8) black square units from step 9, (4) purple units from step 8 and (3) orange
units from step 8, alternating the orange and purple step 8 units with the black square units. Repeat to make a second pieced border unit
that is a mirror image of the first.
12. Arrange (4) 2 ½" orange spiderwebs squares, (4) 2 ½" dark orange pumpkins squares, and (1) 2 ½" black pumpkins square into (3)
rows with (3) squares in each row as shown in the outer border corner blocks below. Stitch the squares into rows and sew the rows together
to make (1) nine-patch block. Repeat to make a total of (4) nine-patch blocks.
13. Stitch a nine-patch block to each end of each pieced border unit made in step 11, noting orientation. Stitch the two border units to the
top and bottom to complete the quilt top.
14. Layer the completed quilt top with batting and backing and quilt as desired.
15. Trim the finished wall hanging and bind using the 2 ¼" black pumpkins strips.
