<strong>Navy</strong>/<str<strong>on</strong>g>NMFS</str<strong>on</strong>g> will subsequently utilize the findings of the M<strong>on</strong>itoring Workshop to potentially<br />

modify subsequent m<strong>on</strong>itoring and mitigati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

General Notificati<strong>on</strong> of Injured or Dead Marine Mammals - <strong>Navy</strong> pers<strong>on</strong>nel shall ensure that <str<strong>on</strong>g>NMFS</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

(regi<strong>on</strong>al stranding coordinator) is notified immediately (or as so<strong>on</strong> as clearance procedures allow) if an<br />

injured or dead marine mammal is found during or shortly after, and in the vicinity of, any <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>training</strong><br />

exercise utilizing MFAS, HFAS, or underwater explosive det<strong>on</strong>ati<strong>on</strong>s. The <strong>Navy</strong> shall provide <str<strong>on</strong>g>NMFS</str<strong>on</strong>g> with<br />

species or descripti<strong>on</strong> of the animal(s), the c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> of the animal(s) (including carcass c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong> if the<br />

animal is dead), locati<strong>on</strong>, time of first discovery, observed behaviors (if alive), and photo or video (if<br />

available). The <strong>Navy</strong> shall c<strong>on</strong>sult the Stranding Resp<strong>on</strong>se Plan to obtain more specific reporting<br />

requirements for specific circumstances.<br />

Annual HRC M<strong>on</strong>itoring Plan Report - The <strong>Navy</strong> shall submit a report annually <strong>on</strong> October 1 describing the<br />

implementati<strong>on</strong> and results (through Aug<strong>us</strong>t 1 of the same year) of the HRC M<strong>on</strong>itoring Plan, described<br />

above. Data collecti<strong>on</strong> methods will be standardized across range complexes to allow for comparis<strong>on</strong> in<br />

different geographic locati<strong>on</strong>s. Although additi<strong>on</strong>al informati<strong>on</strong> will be gathered, the marine mammal<br />

observers (MMOs) collecting marine mammal data pursuant to the HRC M<strong>on</strong>itoring Plan shall, at a minimum,<br />

provide the same marine mammal observati<strong>on</strong> data required in 218.75(g)(1).<br />

The HRC M<strong>on</strong>itoring Plan Report may be provided to <str<strong>on</strong>g>NMFS</str<strong>on</strong>g> within a larger report that includes the required<br />

M<strong>on</strong>itoring Plan Reports from multiple Range Complexes.<br />

Annual HRC Exercise Report - The <strong>Navy</strong> shall submit an Annual HRC Exercise Report <strong>on</strong> October 1 of<br />

every year (covering data gathered through Aug<strong>us</strong>t 1 (or completi<strong>on</strong> of RIMPAC if later than Aug 1) of the<br />

same year). This report shall c<strong>on</strong>tain informati<strong>on</strong> identified in subsecti<strong>on</strong>s 218.75(f)(1) – (f)(5).<br />

(1) MFAS/HFAS Major Training Exercises - This secti<strong>on</strong> shall c<strong>on</strong>tain the following informati<strong>on</strong> for<br />

Major Training Exercises (MTEs, which include RIMPAC, USWEX, and Multi Strike Group)<br />
