FRIMLEY GREEN RECREATION GROUND,<br />

A large park, dom<strong>in</strong>ated by a grassy hill,<br />

offer<strong>in</strong>g extensive views over <strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Hampshire. There is a children’s play area,<br />

five football pitches, two tennis courts <strong>and</strong> a<br />

cricket square. An area of natural vegetation<br />

has been conserved for <strong>the</strong> benefit of local<br />

wildlife.<br />

WATCHETTS RECREATION GROUND<br />

Park Road, Camberley, GU15 2SR<br />

Home of <strong>the</strong> Camberley Rugby Football Club,<br />

Frimley Lawn Tennis Club <strong>and</strong> Watchetts<br />

Bowls Club. The park also provides cricket<br />

<strong>and</strong> casual tennis facilities, <strong>and</strong> a children’s<br />

play area.<br />

LONDON ROAD RECREATION GROUND<br />

Gr<strong>and</strong> Avenue, Camberley, GU15 3QH<br />

<strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Heath</strong>’s oldest park <strong>open</strong>ed by Queen<br />

Victoria <strong>in</strong> 1898, located adjacent to <strong>the</strong> Arena<br />

Leisure Centre. In addition to football pitches,<br />

cricket square, bowl<strong>in</strong>g green <strong>and</strong> tennis<br />

courts, <strong>the</strong>re is a small ornamental garden<br />

<strong>and</strong> children’s play area. Home to Camberley<br />

Bowls Club.<br />

<strong>the</strong> River Blackwater offers a beautiful sett<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for walks <strong>and</strong> wildlife spott<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

LIGHTWATER COUNTRY PARK<br />

The Avenue, Lightwater, GU18 5RG<br />

The country park extends to 59 hectares<br />

<strong>and</strong> consists of a variety of habitats <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>open</strong> heathl<strong>and</strong>, woodl<strong>and</strong>, meadows <strong>and</strong><br />

ponds. The heathl<strong>and</strong> is a protected Site<br />

of Special Scientific Interest (S.S.S.I.) due<br />

to <strong>the</strong> rare wildlife it supports. There are<br />

waymarked walks <strong>and</strong> nature trails, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

view from High Curley hill is well worth <strong>the</strong><br />

climb! Facilities also <strong>in</strong>clude a dog-free picnic<br />

area <strong>and</strong> children’s playground. For <strong>more</strong><br />

EVENTS<br />

The Council runs a varied programme of<br />

walks <strong>and</strong> events across every season.<br />

These <strong>in</strong>clude guided health walks, wildlife<br />

walks, <strong>and</strong> a host of events for children such<br />

as m<strong>in</strong>i-beast hunt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> woodl<strong>and</strong> survival<br />

WILDLIFE<br />

Walk<strong>in</strong>g is also a popular pastime with<strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Heath</strong> with a host of organisations<br />

lead<strong>in</strong>g groups across <strong>the</strong> Borough. There<br />

are clearly waymarked Nature Trails at both<br />

Chobham Place Woods <strong>and</strong> Lightwater<br />

Country Park, <strong>and</strong> four ‘Walk4Life’ mile-long<br />

waymarked walks at <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g locations<br />

WALKING<br />

Gett<strong>in</strong>g active <strong>in</strong> <strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Heath</strong>’s <strong>parks</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

countryside is easy. Cycl<strong>in</strong>g is a very popular<br />

activity, <strong>and</strong> is an ideal way to experience<br />

your local area. There are a number of<br />

surfaced paths across <strong>the</strong> Borough (see map<br />

overleaf) to explore, whilst keep<strong>in</strong>g yourself<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> environment healthy!<br />

CYCLING<br />

All our playgrounds are for <strong>the</strong> use of children<br />

aged between 4 – 14 years; please ensure<br />

young children are supervised at all times.<br />

LEISURE AND SPORTS FACILITIES<br />

<strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Heath</strong> boasts an impressive quantity<br />

<strong>and</strong> high quality of sports clubs <strong>and</strong> facilities,<br />

which have produced some Olympic-class<br />

athletes! There are also various leisure<br />

facilities across <strong>Surrey</strong> <strong>Heath</strong>, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
