56 5.2 Mesh Creation 10-node tetrahedral coupled field solid element SOLID98 (Figure 5.3) was used for the finite element analyses. The element has a quadratic displacement behavior and is well suited to model irregular meshes. The meshes were made finer in the sharp edges between the boundaries of the model and fiber matrix interface when necessary, especially for the models which have a larger fiber volume fraction than 50%.
