CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
How did a carpenter in the backwater section of the Roman Empire, known as
Galilee, get a message to millions of people through the ages, when all He began with
was a group of fishermen and tradesmen? There were two words that He used: Come,
follow me; and Go, teach all nations. His message spread through attraction - the fact
that the message was good, and His followers invited folks to join. Of course, Divine
Intervention had something to do with it too.
At the August Encampment, the National Treasurer pointed out that for various
reasons, our Order had spent more money than it had taken in. Not such a bad thing -
actions have been put in motion to help correct the situation. However, if there were
more members in the SUVCW - there would be no shortfall of money or manpower.
Do we believe in the Sons? Are we willing to ask our friends, neighbors and family
to join? If we are not - the consequences will be very sad.
Col. Shaw walked along the lines of the 54th on the beach before the assault on Battery Wagner. He asked, “If this man
falls, who will take his place?” A private, who had been in college with him - who was no longer able to communicate with
him because of the difference in rank - replied, “ I will.”
Now you are needed to step up and ask another man to join our Brotherhood. If you do not, who will? If not now, when?
