The Artists
Lynda Yuroff
Recipients of the 29th Annual Governors Arts Awards each
receive an original painting by artist Lynda Yuroff. Born
in Springfield, Illinois and graduating from Illinois State
University, Yuroff’s early art experiences were shaped by
university studio classes and visits to the Chicago Art
Institute. She supported her passion for studio art with
a series of jobs in graphic design before becoming an art
teacher. Since moving to Nevada 30 years ago, Yuroff has
taught art to children as an artist in residence with the Nevada
Arts Council, Sierra Arts and Very Special Arts Nevada, as
well as painting and drawing classes at Truckee Meadows
Community College. She is an award-winning artist with works
represented in many private collections nationally as well
as Bank of America and Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. This
is Yuroff’s second Governor’s Arts Award commission.
