12.3 MDMSView GUI<br />

Each one of these generate a log depending on which scheduler type you are using (see above).<br />

If errors occur there may be in<strong>for</strong>mation in these log files or in the<br />

MDMS$LOG:MDMS$LOGFILE__.LOG file.<br />

12.3.1 Running MDMSView GUI After ABS/MDMS Installation<br />

12.3.2 Windows Java Path<br />

After installing ABS/MDMS, you must logout and back in be<strong>for</strong>e running the MDMSView GUI<br />

on <strong>OpenVMS</strong> Alpha. Some of the required symbols <strong>for</strong> Java will be missing if you do not log<br />

back in and you may receive errors from the MDMS$SYSTEM:MDMS$START_GUI.COM<br />

procedure.<br />

If you have Java installed in a location different from the normal default location, the GUI will<br />

not find Java. You must edit the MDMSView.bat file and include the correct path. The default in<br />

this file is<br />

12.3.3 MDMSView Log Screen<br />

C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.2\bin\java.exe<br />

If you receive errors while running the GUI, there is a log screen that may be displayed. This<br />

window may show more in<strong>for</strong>mation about the errors. This window comes up with the GUI by<br />

default and you can bring it up <strong>to</strong> the <strong>for</strong>eground by selecting MDMSView Log Screen from the<br />

View pulldown. The in<strong>for</strong>mation displayed are the actual calls the GUI is sending <strong>to</strong> the MDMS<br />

server.<br />

12.3.4 MDMSView Command Window<br />

The window that initially brings up the GUI has additional in<strong>for</strong>mation in it. This displays the<br />

Java error messages and operations.<br />
