In addition to the mythic mountain itself,
there’s more to see: The Garden of the Gods
Park is known for its massive red sandstone
formations, and it has a natural history
museum that interprets the surroundings.
Love animals? The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
stands at 6,800 feet. Royal Gorge is home to
the world’s highest suspension bridge. So
hold on tight! Other area attractions include
the Olympic Training Complex and Air Force
Academy, which is actually the most visited
man-made attraction in the state. Outdoor
adventurers have so many choices that they
need to make sure there’s enough time to
enjoy all the activities. The majors: river
rafting, hiking, golfing, horseback riding,
mountain biking, fishing and skiing.

The invitational Balloon Classic, held in early
September, is one of the largest balloon
rallies in the country and a sight to behold.
Where should you stay?
If you believe that a fabulous resort is
the best setting for romance, consider
the Broadmoor Hotel, which consistently
garners five-star ratings. Spa services
and golf are part of its allure, along with
several excellent restaurants, pools, tennis
courts, shooting grounds, shops, and even
a carriage museum. There are also some 30
bed and breakfasts in the area, in addition to
lower-priced motels and camping.
When’s the best time to visit?
The area boasts a mild, dry climate and sun
300-day a year. The Rockies’ cool and dry
mountain air are a great respite to summer
humidity elsewhere; temperatures rarely
climb above 80 in the sultry season. Fall
brings a blazing show of foliage, and the
best lodging rates. (Off-season is September
to May).
Before you book a trip, though, there’s one
thing you need to know: Colorado Springs
is 6,035 feet above sea level. There’s less
oxygen at that elevation. Visitors are advised
to give their body time to adjust to the
change by drinking lots of water, taking it
easy for the first day, and avoiding alcohol
at first (or else you’ll get drunk faster, on
much less!).

This quarter saw a myriad of interesting
annual and monthly tournaments as well as
a chance to meet the World’s Longest Drive
champion, specially catered for the delights of
avid golfers.

Wedded Bliss
There was a rush of Malay, Chinese and
Indian weddings this season, just before
the Ramadhan festival takes off, in a mix of
traditional and modern outfits.

Carnival That Spells F-U-N
Tropicana Residents’ Association (TRA) held
an eventful and entertaining charity carnival
together with Adabi Group. On another note,
the RMCC Charity Golf saw lots of fun-filled
activities too!
