Positions Reporting to this Position:<br />
• N/A<br />
Primary Purpose of Position<br />
• To provide efficient <strong>and</strong> effective delivery <strong>and</strong> integration of Athlete Career <strong>and</strong> Education (ACE) program services to eligible National, AIS <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>SA</strong>SI athletes <strong>and</strong> coaches<br />
• To coordinate the South Australian <strong>Sport</strong>s Institute (<strong>SA</strong>SI) ACE program <strong>and</strong> report through a service agreement to the National ACE program.<br />
• To provide psychology <strong>and</strong> mental skill training programs to selected squad athletes <strong>and</strong> squads.<br />
Outcomes<br />
• Implementation <strong>and</strong> coordination of the national ACE program in <strong>SA</strong>SI, incorporating program planning, evaluation <strong>and</strong> reports.<br />
• Effective delivery of career <strong>and</strong> education services, <strong>and</strong> provision of transition services, to eligible athletes.<br />
• Effective delivery of sport psychology services to selected athletes <strong>and</strong> squad programs, including the development, implementation <strong>and</strong><br />
supervision of sport psychology programs.<br />
• Contribute to the <strong>SA</strong>SI <strong>and</strong> organisational outcomes by undertaking <strong>and</strong> assisting in the implementation of special projects <strong>and</strong> by complying<br />
with policies, guidelines <strong>and</strong> procedures of the organisation.<br />

Essential Qualifications<br />
• Approved degree in Psychology <strong>and</strong> registered, or eligible to be<br />
registered, as a psychologist in South Australia.<br />
Desirable Qualifications<br />
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (education, Counselling, Welfare,<br />
Health etc.)<br />
Desirable Attributes<br />
• Knowledge of the programs, operations <strong>and</strong> policies of <strong>SA</strong>SI <strong>and</strong><br />
the office <strong>for</strong> recreation <strong>and</strong> <strong>Sport</strong><br />
• Experience in the use of personal computers <strong>and</strong> Microsoft<br />
applications.<br />
• Experience in program planning <strong>and</strong> evaluation.<br />
Essential Attributes (Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements)<br />
• Proven ability, demonstrated through experience, to communicate<br />
<strong>and</strong> work effectively in a high per<strong>for</strong>mance sport environment.<br />
• Sound underst<strong>and</strong>ing of, <strong>and</strong> skills in, individual athlete<br />
assessment, case management, career guidance <strong>and</strong> counselling,<br />
<strong>and</strong> the ability to prepare appropriate action plans.<br />
• Demonstrated effective presentation skills, especially in the<br />
workshop environment <strong>and</strong> with groups.<br />
• Sound knowledge of, <strong>and</strong> experience in working with education<br />
providers, schools, <strong>and</strong> businesses.<br />
• Well-developed interpersonal skills <strong>and</strong> the ability to liaise with a<br />
diverse range of people <strong>and</strong> organisations.<br />
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as well as<br />
work independently with a high level of initiative <strong>and</strong> <strong>au</strong>tonomy.<br />
• Demonstrated ability to develop <strong>and</strong> implement sport psychology<br />
programs.<br />
• Well-developed organisational <strong>and</strong> administrative skills <strong>and</strong> oral <strong>and</strong><br />
written communication skills.<br />
• Demonstrated knowledge <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the requirements of<br />
elite coaches <strong>and</strong> athletes, <strong>and</strong> of high per<strong>for</strong>mance sport program<br />
operations.<br />
• Underst<strong>and</strong>ing of sporting <strong>and</strong> non-sporting requirements <strong>and</strong><br />
dem<strong>and</strong>s placed on elite athletes.<br />
• Knowledge of the delivery mechanism of the ACE program.
Key Relationships/Interactions<br />
• Reports to <strong>and</strong> liaises with the Manager, talent Development<br />
Programs <strong>and</strong> the Manager <strong>Sport</strong> Sciences.<br />
• Reports to <strong>and</strong> Liaises with the National ACE program Manager<br />
• Significant working relationships with other members of the <strong>SA</strong>SI<br />
<strong>Sport</strong> Science Unit <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Sport</strong>s plan program head coaches.<br />
Key Challenges<br />
• Working with a diverse range of internal <strong>and</strong> external clients<br />
• Working in a team environment, with a number of part time providers<br />
• Responding to client’s needs in a rapidly changing <strong>and</strong> dem<strong>and</strong>ing<br />
sport environment.<br />
• Working in the position that has ACE <strong>and</strong> Psychology dem<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />
protocols.<br />

• Employment conditions will be governed by the PSM Act, 1995 <strong>and</strong> the incumbent will be expected to work in a manner consistent with the<br />
Code of Conduct.<br />
• The incumbent must be prepared to be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.<br />

• This position is a temporary contract <strong>for</strong> 2 years <strong>and</strong> is dependent on external funding.<br />
• Work outside of normal office hours is a requirement of the position. Intra <strong>and</strong> interstate travel may also be required.<br />
