Your CIGNA International
Expatriate Benefits medical
benefits program includes
coverage for prescription
medicines wherever you are in
the world. Plus, when you and
your eligible family members
are in the U.S. or its territories,
you may access CIGNA
HealthCare’s Pharmacy
Management network of more
than 52,000 participating
pharmacies to save money on
prescriptions from doctors,
dentists, or hospitals/clinics.
The network includes major
chains, such as Wal-Mart,
CVS, and Walgreen’s, and
independent pharmacies
nationwide.
To Your Advantage:
The advantage of the Pharmacy Management
program accrues to those using
participating pharmacies in the U.S. or
its territories. Of course, as a CIGNA
International member, you may go to any
pharmacy anywhere in the world. However,
you will need to submit a claim to CIGNA
International for your medications at a
non-participating pharmacy. In a network
pharmacy, you will only need to pay the
co-insurance (or co-pay) amounts that are
pertinent to your benefit program.
In addition, you may ask your doctor to
write a prescription for up to a 365-day
supply of a maintenance medication.
These orders may be filled at network retail
pharmacies or through CIGNA Tel-Drug and
shipped to you at your designated address.
Show Your Card:
A Pharmacy Management logo and
account number appear on your CIGNA
International member ID card, along
with a toll-free number that a network
participating pharmacy calls to confirm
your program details. The pharmacy
needs to record all purchases through the
Pharmacy Management network, in order
to process correct benefit amounts
on your prescription.
Home Delivery Pharmacy Services:
Another important aspect of your
prescription benefit is the convenience of
ordering prescriptions on line, over the
phone or by mail through CIGNA Tel-Drug
Home Delivery. A CIGNA company,
Tel-Drug ships medicines to addresses
within the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin
Islands, Guam, as well as to APO/FPO
addresses. Tel-Drug allows up to a 365-day
purchase amounts for maintenance
medications for CIGNA International
members, saving you and your eligible
family members even more.
With more than 75 years of pharmacy
expertise, CIGNA Tel-Drug offers
innovative, industry-leading dispensing
procedures and high standards of customer
service. Tel-Drug currently dispenses more
than 100,000 prescriptions weekly from its
two pharmacy locations in the U.S.

Do I still need to complete and submit claim
forms for prescription drugs?
Claim forms are always required for prescriptions
outside the U.S., or when you go to a
non-participating pharmacy in the U.S. or
Puerto Rico.
How do I determine which pharmacies are
included in the CIGNA Pharmacy Management
network?
There is a direct link to the CIGNA Pharmacy
Management network from the secure Member
Web site (www.cigna.com/expatriates),
to determine which pharmacies are in the
network.
Are fertility medications covered by CIGNA
Pharmacy Management?
Fertility medications are not available
through the Pharmacy Management
network or Tel-Drug. However, if your
employer has elected optional fertility
coverage, you may submit a claim with a
copy of your prescription to us at the
address on your card.
Who can participate in Tel-Drug, and how do I
register?
Anyone with a Pharmacy Management drug
benefit plan through CIGNA International
may register, as long as they are within the
U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands,
Guam, or at an APO/FPO address. To
register, go to the Tel-Drug Web site:
www.teldrug.com, which you can access
directly through the secure CIGNA International
Member Web site: www.cigna.com/
expatriates. You may also register by calling
CIGNA Tel-Drug Customer Service toll-free
at 1-800-835-3784 (or 605-373-0100, a toll
call), from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central time,
Monday through Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
How does ordering prescriptions through
Tel-Drug differ from retail pharmacy
prescription orders?
Tel-Drug orders are for maintenance
medications. Tel-Drug fills new prescriptions,
refills of existing prescriptions (as specified
by your physician, for up to one year). You
may also transfer prescriptions from a retail
pharmacy. You can check the status of your
order online at the Tel-Drug Web site and
receive prescriptions by mail or courier
delivery.
Can Tel-Drug prescriptions be mailed to me
when I am in another country?
Tel-Drug only ships medications to U.S.
addresses (including U.S. territories and
APO/FPO addresses).
Can I get brand name and generic medications
through Tel-Drug?
Yes. CIGNA Tel-Drug dispenses most FDAapproved
brand name medications as well as
generic medications. Unless your prescribing
physician indicates a brand name in handwriting,
your prescription will be filled with
a generic medication.
Does Tel-Drug ensure the accuracy and prompt
delivery of prescription orders?
Yes. Each prescription order goes through a
series of quality review checks by registered
pharmacists, and a sophisticated dispensing
system. Once a Tel-Drug pharmacist has
verified a prescription with prescribing
physician, new and transferred prescription
orders are typically mailed within 4 to 5
days. You may request overnight or secondday
shipping for an additional fee.
How are refills handled? What if the dosage or
frequency changes?
You may order refills either by telephone or
online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as long
as you have a credit card account registered
with Tel-Drug. If dosage or frequency
changes for a current prescription, this is not
considered a refill; a new prescription must
be written by your physician and mailed to
CIGNA Tel-Drug with an order form.
