PARTICIPANT AWARDS SYNGENTA 4-H ONTARIO ARBOR AWARD Sponsored by: Syngenta Canada Inc. Submission Deadline: November 30, 2013 Volunteers are the heart of 4-H. 4-H Ontario values the hard work, dedication and talent that volunteers bring to the program. Their service is instrumental in 4-H Ontario’s continued success. Because of this, the recognition of our volunteers will always be an important element of the 4-H program. The Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Awards are 4-H Ontario’s most distinguished Volunteer awards given out each year at 4-H Ontario’s Conference & Annual Meeting in March. Volunteers are nominated by their local Associations and recipients are chosen by a selection committee. This award is open to all 4-H volunteers who have positively impacted 4-H in Ontario and have served the organization for over 10 years (this includes both club leaders and non-traditional volunteers). Nominees must have shown significant leadership, initiative and made a positive impact on 4-H at various levels (club, local, regional, provincial and/or national). Nominees’ involvement in other community activities and organizations is also strongly considered. For more details, visit www.4-hontario.ca/arbor-awards. 4-H ONTARIO AWARD OF ACHIEVEMENT Sponsored by: Gay Lea Foods Co-operative Limited The 4-H Ontario Award of Achievement is awarded to members who have completed 24 projects and five years as a Member. Recipients of the 4-H Ontario Award of Achievement receive a framed limited edition print. For more details, visit www.4-hontario.ca/volunteers. THE CO-OPERATORS 4-H NATIONAL VOLUNTEER LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council Sponsored by: The Co-operators Submission Deadline: December 2013 The Co-operators 4-H National Volunteer Leader of the Year Award is presented annually. A Volunteer Leader is selected from each province and a grand prize winner is selected from that group. Provincial winners will be awarded a recognition certificate, a $100 cash prize, plus Co-operators and 4-H merchandise. A Grand Prize of $1,000 and a trip to the National 4-H Conference in Toronto in November is awarded to one Leader chosen from the provincial winners. MONSANTO VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION PROGRAM Sponsored by: Monsanto Canada Inc. The Monsanto Volunteer Recognition Program celebrates 4-H Ontario volunteers’ years of service. Each new 4-H Ontario volunteer receives a certificate of appreciation and pin for their first year of volunteering. Further recognition is given at five year increments while special congratulations are received starting at 20 years of service, and for every five year increment afterward. Volunteers recognized for service over 20 years are honoured at a formal luncheon at the 4-H Ontario Conference & Annual Meeting each year. 2013 TELECONFERENCES For Volunteers LIVESTOCK CONTACTS RSVP: livestock@4-hontario.ca or 1.877.410.6748 x481 The February teleconference will include a review of the Association Livestock Package and an update on new policies and procedures. The September teleconference will include an update on the show season and upcoming changes if applicable (policy and ethics). February 5: 12:00pm & 8:00pm September 24: 12:00pm & 8:00pm MEMBERSHIP COORDINATORS RSVP: database@4-hontario.ca or 1.877.410.6748 x484 These teleconferences focus on reviewing the 4-H Ontario Membership Database. An agenda will be sent out two weeks prior to each teleconference. The March agenda will include updates and processes for 2013. The May agenda will include discussion of livestock deadlines, and review and planning. The September agenda will include a review of awards season processes and year end procedures and deadlines. March 6: 12:00pm & 8:00pm May 22: 12:00pm & 8:00pm September 4: 12:00pm & 8:00pm SCREENING CONTACTS RSVP: volunteers@4-hontario.ca or 1.877.410.6748 x464 Annual teleconference call with Association Volunteer Screening Contacts. These calls provide an overview of the 4-H Ontario volunteer screening process and why it is so important. The call will cover the roles of volunteer screening contacts and committees, as well as the role of the Coordinators, Volunteer Support and how 4-H Ontario assists in regards to issues with screening. Volunteers will have the chance to ask risk management questions. April 18: 12:00pm & 8:00pm November 18: 12:00pm & 8:00pm INSURANCE RSVP: volunteers@4-hontario.ca or 1.877.410.6748 x464 This call is open to all volunteers. The purpose is to highlight and understand 4-H insurance coverage and requirements. A representative from 4-H Ontario’s insurance company will be in attendance. Incident reporting processes and best practices will be discussed. A call for agenda items will be sent to Presidents and Vice-Presidents one month prior to each teleconference. The teleconference agenda will be circulated two weeks prior to the call. Teleconferences are scheduled around Ontario 4-H Council Board meetings to allow Presidents and Vice Presidents to provide feedback to the Ontario 4-H Council Board of Directors. Full Association participation supports successful 4-H operations across the province. March 4: 8:00pm Orientation w/ 2013 newly elected ARs, Presidents & Vice Presidents April 30: 12:00pm & 8:00pm May 2: 12:00pm & 8:00pm October 8: 12:00pm & 8:00pm October 10: 12:00pm & 8:00pm ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVES Hosts: Ontario 4-H Council President & Executive Director RSVP: ea@4-hontario.ca or 1.877.410.6748 x474 These teleconferences allow for province wide connection on governance topics and the vision of 4-H Ontario. Teleconferences are scheduled two weeks prior to Ontario 4-H Council Board meetings to allow the opportunity to provide feedback to the Ontario 4-H Council Board of Directors via the President. Participation is vital to the success of the governance model.
