Course Description:<br />
HIS 3313 A/G & COGIC - <strong>History</strong> <strong>and</strong> Culture (3 credits)<br />
The student will review <strong>the</strong> historical developments <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Assemblies</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Church</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> <strong>in</strong> Christ. A comparison <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> cultural heritages, doctr<strong>in</strong>al development,<br />
<strong>and</strong> polity will be considered.<br />

b. The student will be able to express <strong>the</strong> organizational structure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Assemblies</strong><br />

c. The student will fulfill <strong>the</strong> <strong>Assemblies</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> educational requirement listed for<br />

Course Requirements:<br />

1. Read <strong>the</strong> textbooks mark with an asterisk <strong>and</strong> two additional books (your choice) from<br />
<strong>the</strong> list.<br />
2. Write a five-page book review for each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> required textbooks. (Exclud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
Constitution <strong>and</strong> Bylaws.)<br />
3. Compose a flow chart which demonstrates <strong>the</strong> organizational structure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Assemblies</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> <strong>and</strong> COGIC governance. (This chart needs to <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> national<br />
through <strong>the</strong> local governance.)<br />
4. Pass an oral <strong>and</strong>/or onl<strong>in</strong>e comprehensive exam which covers <strong>the</strong> history <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Assembles <strong>of</strong> <strong>God</strong> <strong>and</strong> COGIC denom<strong>in</strong>ation.<br />
5. The assignments must be completed 12 weeks after <strong>the</strong> course beg<strong>in</strong>s.<br />
