Welcome From the Chief of Child and Youth Services To Parents, Welcome to the Fort Leonard Wood (FLW) Child and Youth Services (CYS) Program. CYS is a community-based effort to coordinate comprehensive services for children and youth of eligible personnel living on and off the installation. The FLW Child Development Center (CDC) provides full day and hourly care, part day preschool, and special needs care for children between the ages of six weeks to five years. Our goal is to provide a safe environment, enriching experiences, and warm, loving care for your children during their stay with us. CYS also offers a Family Child Care (FCC) Program. A referral service is maintained and providers are trained and certified to provide in-home childcare on FLW. FCC provides full day, part day, hourly, and special needs care. Additionally, extended hours, weekend, and long term care for children four weeks to 12 years of age is available. FCC provides a safe, loving home environment for small groups in a multi-age setting. School Age Services (SAS) provides childcare for children from Kindergarten to fifth grade. This program provides before and after care when school is in session, full day and hourly care when school is not in session to include the summer months. SAS provides a safe and educational environment for children who are enrolled in school and can provide services for those who are home schooled. In addition to SAS, Youth Services (YS) has a wide variety of activities for youth, including the Youth Center, a Youth Sports Program, and a Teen Lounge. Although our programs are structured developmentally, our emphasis is on informality. A relaxed and casual setting is offered which is geared to the needs and interests of the children and their families. We extend an open invitation for you to drop in for informal visits. This will not only give us the opportunity to become acquainted, but also assist us in providing optimum learning experiences for your children. Our goal is to provide the best possible quality care. We extend a warm welcome to each of you and look forward to caring for your child. NANCY B. STARNES Chief, Child and Youth Services 3
