F-285 Pre-Admission Screening for Mental Illness. The<br />
facility must coordinate assessments with the preadmission<br />
screening and resident review program to<br />
ensure that individuals with mental illness and mental<br />
retardation receive the care and services they need in<br />
the most appropriate setting.<br />
F-286 MDS Data Storage & Maintenance. A facility must<br />
maintain all resident assessments completed within the<br />
previous 15 months in the resident’s active record.<br />
F-287 Encoding & Transmitting. Within 7 days after a facility<br />
completes a resident’s assessment, the facility must<br />
encode and be capable of transmitting the appropriate<br />
information for each resident in the facility, in the<br />
specified format to the appropriate agency.<br />

F-309 Quality of Care. Each resident must receive and the<br />
facility must provide the necessary care and services to<br />
attain or maintain the highest practicable physical,<br />
mental, and psychosocial well-being, in accordance<br />
with the comprehensive assessment and plan of care.<br />
F-310 ADL Abilities. The facility must ensure that a<br />
resident’s abilities in activities of daily living do not<br />
diminish unless circumstances of the individual’s<br />
clinical condition demonstrate that diminution was<br />
unavoidable. This includes the resident’s ability to:<br />
1. Bathe, dress, groom;<br />
2. Transfer and ambulate;<br />
3. Toilet;<br />
4. Eat; and<br />
5. Use speech, language, or other functional<br />
systems.<br />
F-311 Appropriate Treatment & Services. The facility must<br />
ensure that a resident is given appropriate treatment<br />
and services to maintain or improve his or her ADL<br />
abilities listed in F-310.<br />
F-312 Care for ADL Dependent Residents. The facility must<br />
ensure that a resident who is unable to carry out ADL<br />
receives the necessary services to maintain good<br />
nutrition, grooming, and personal and oral hygiene.<br />
