• A student is required to submit a portfolio <strong>of</strong> original art work at the<br />
admissions interview. This artwork needs to demonstrate<br />
competence with art materials in three or more visual art media.<br />
• A minimum <strong>of</strong> 18 semester credit hours – or 27 quarter hour credits<br />
– <strong>of</strong> study in studio art that demonstrates pr<strong>of</strong>iciency and discipline<br />
commitment in art making.<br />
• Equivalency <strong>of</strong> some non-academic studio art experience or art<br />
therapy based coursework (270 hours) may be substituted for the<br />
required hours <strong>of</strong> study in studio art at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the Art<br />
Therapy Program Director. However, it is imperative that the<br />
applicant demonstrate a range <strong>of</strong> experience using a variety <strong>of</strong> art<br />
materials and processes.<br />
Applicants, who meet application requirements, will be invited to an<br />
application interview with an art therapy core faculty member. The applicant<br />
needs to bring his/her completed art portfolio to this interview that is the last<br />
step in the application process.<br />
Concentration Requirements<br />
The following courses are required for the Concentration. In addition,<br />
students in this program will be required to submit a portfolio <strong>of</strong> their art<br />
therapy coursework experiences for review prior to program completion.<br />
