Trustees for the conferral <strong>of</strong> the Certificate in Group Psychotherapy.<br />
Concentration/Certificate<br />
in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy<br />
The Concentration/Certificate in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is designed<br />
to provide students or outside mental health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals with more advanced<br />
knowledge and skills in various modalities <strong>of</strong> cognitive-behavioral therapy and<br />
related therapeutic modalities. The coursework blends a conceptual framework<br />
for understanding cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), a review <strong>of</strong> a range <strong>of</strong><br />
practical applications <strong>of</strong> CBT, an examination <strong>of</strong> the interface <strong>of</strong> CBT with other<br />
therapeutic modalities, and practical training in CBT. Students in any <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Adler</strong> Master’s Degree programs may enroll this concentration. For those who<br />
choose to do so, the requirements will be beyond those for their Master’s<br />
degree. Students in the <strong>Adler</strong> Psy.D. program may also enroll in this<br />
concentration. Those choosing to do so, should register for 335 Cognitive-<br />
Behavioral Approaches to Intervention as one <strong>of</strong> their Basic Intervention<br />
electives and for course 702 Advanced Cognitive-Behavioral Approaches to<br />
Intervention for their Advanced Intervention elective. The remaining nine<br />
credits for the concentration can be applied to the nine credits <strong>of</strong> general<br />
electives in the Psy.D. program.<br />
A Concentration in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy is awarded to students<br />
enrolled in a degree program at the <strong>School</strong>. A Certificate is awarded to outside<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.<br />
Minimum Admission Requirements<br />
• Graduate standing in a master’s or doctoral program in psychology<br />
or a related field or licensure as a social worker, psychologist,<br />
physician, nurse (RN), or clinical pr<strong>of</strong>essional counselor.<br />
Approved applicants will be invited to a personal interview as a final step<br />
in the application process.<br />
Certificate Requirements<br />
The following courses are required for this certificate. In addition, students<br />
in this program should consult with the Program Coordinator to develop an<br />
individualized course <strong>of</strong> study.<br />
