trained and qualified to be entry level counselors with skills in assessing and<br />

providing counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Beyond<br />

these important and marketable skills, graduates will have received training and<br />

skills in assessing and providing intervention in organizational settings on the<br />

level <strong>of</strong> the individual (personnel selection, leadership development, executive<br />

coaching, career assessment, and counseling), the work group (team<br />

assessment, team issue resolution, and team building), as well as the<br />

organizational level (talent audits, needs analysis, strategic planning, and<br />

organizational design and development).<br />

Students can take this program in the traditional (three year) sequence or<br />

in an accelerated (two year) sequence. Students who take the accelerated<br />

program will be required to enroll both in weekend and weekday courses.<br />

Minimum Admission Requirements<br />

Applicants to this program typically require:<br />

• A baccalaureate degree or the equivalent from an accredited<br />

institution<br />

• A grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all<br />

undergraduate and graduate course work<br />

• The equivalent <strong>of</strong> twelve semester credit hours in psychology with<br />

grades <strong>of</strong> “C” or better. These courses should include general or<br />

introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, theories <strong>of</strong><br />

personality, and research methods<br />

Approved applicants will be invited to a personal interview as a final step<br />

in the application process.<br />

Degree Requirements<br />

The following courses are required for this degree. It is mandatory that<br />

students take courses following the sequence described below to insure timely<br />

progress in meeting program requirements.<br />

* 200 Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Seminar I 1 cr.<br />

* 201 Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Seminar II 1 cr.<br />

* 202 Community Service Practicum I 1 cr.<br />

* 203 Community Service Practicum II 1 cr.<br />

337 Group Psychotherapy 3 cr.<br />

* 402 Introduction to <strong>Adler</strong>ian <strong>Psychology</strong> and Psychopathology 3 cr.<br />

431 Child Guidance and Parenting 1 cr.<br />

432 Child Guidance and Parenting Group Supervision 1 cr.<br />
