Although this degree program satisfies the current academic and predegree<br />

training and education requirements for the Licensed Clinical<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Counselor (LCPC) credential in the State <strong>of</strong> Illinois, and current<br />

requirements for the Licensed Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Counselor (LPC) in the State <strong>of</strong><br />

Illinois, students should be aware licensure requirements in some states may<br />

require them to take courses beyond those currently required by the <strong>Adler</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong>. M.A.C. Students should consult state boards and licensure requirements<br />

in other jurisdictions and plan their curriculum accordingly. Applicants should<br />

check credentialing requirements in the jurisdiction in which they intend to<br />

practice following graduation. Links to state and provincial credentialing boards<br />

can be found on the website <strong>of</strong> the Association <strong>of</strong> State and Provincial<br />

<strong>Psychology</strong> Boards at http://www.asppb.org.<br />

Minimum Admission Requirements<br />

Applicants to this program typically require:<br />

• A baccalaureate degree or the equivalent from an accredited<br />

institution<br />

• A grade point average <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all<br />

undergraduate and graduate course work<br />

• A designated major in <strong>Psychology</strong> or completion <strong>of</strong> the equivalent <strong>of</strong><br />

twelve semester credit hours in undergraduate psychology with<br />

grades <strong>of</strong> no less than “C” or better in each course. These courses<br />

should include general or introductory psychology, abnormal<br />

psychology, research methods, and theories <strong>of</strong> personality.<br />

Approved applicants will be invited to a personal interview as the final step<br />

in the application process.<br />

Successful completion <strong>of</strong> the following courses is required for this degree:<br />

* 201 Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Seminar II 1 cr.<br />

* 202 Community Service Practicum I 1 cr.<br />

* 203 Community Service Practicum II 1 cr.<br />

337 Group Psychotherapy 3 cr.<br />

350 Community <strong>Psychology</strong> and Mental Health 3 cr.<br />

* 402 Introduction to <strong>Adler</strong>ian <strong>Psychology</strong> and Psychopathology 3 cr.<br />

431 Child Guidance and Parenting 1 cr.<br />

432 Child Guidance and Parenting Group Supervision 1 cr.<br />

438 Introduction to Addictive Disorders 3 cr.<br />
