Grading System<br />

Traditional letter grades are given for most courses <strong>of</strong>fered. A limited<br />

number <strong>of</strong> courses are evaluated on a pass/no pass basis. The grading system<br />

is as follows:<br />

NC No Credit 0.0<br />

I Incomplete N/A<br />

IP In Progress N/A<br />

NP No Progress N/A<br />

AU Audit / No Credit N/A<br />

W Withdrawal N/A<br />

TR Transfer N/A<br />

A temporary grade <strong>of</strong> “IP” (In Progress) is given to students, who are<br />

engaged in practicum, internship, field experiences, independent study, thesis,<br />

dissertation, or courses in which completion <strong>of</strong> work may typically be expected<br />

to exceed the end <strong>of</strong> the term. The “IP” will be removed from the transcript<br />

when the final grade has been posted.<br />

No Progress<br />

A grade <strong>of</strong> “NP” (No Progress) is given to students enrolled in Master’s<br />

Thesis, Dissertation Proposal or Dissertation, whose work does not indicate<br />

that they are making required progress on completion <strong>of</strong> their thesis,<br />

dissertation proposal, or dissertation. Any student receiving three consecutive<br />

grades <strong>of</strong> NP will be referred to the Student Comprehensive Evaluation<br />

Committee for review. The “NP” will be removed from the transcript when the<br />

final grade for Master’s Thesis, Doctoral Dissertation Proposal, or Doctoral<br />

Dissertation has been posted.<br />
