licensed by the State <strong>of</strong> Illinois’ Department <strong>of</strong> Financial and Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
Regulation. The PSC has a dual mission: to provide psychological services to<br />
underserved populations and to serve as a clinical training site for the <strong>School</strong>’s<br />
doctoral and master degree program’s students.<br />
Services: Services provided to the public include individual, group, family,<br />
and couples psychotherapy; neuropsychological, personality, and cognitive<br />
ability assessment; support groups; parenting classes; consultation;<br />
psychological testing; and psycho-educational programs. In addition to its<br />
centrally located clinic, the PSC <strong>of</strong>fers community based services through a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> satellite locations. Community based services include: prison<br />
aftercare programs, behavior health/primary care programs, and a school<br />
program. Community based services are growing and incorporating a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
changes in response to the changing needs <strong>of</strong> our communities.<br />
The PSC’s programs and services are designed to assist children,<br />
adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups in dealing with personal<br />
issues including marital/family problems, depression, anxiety, stress, school<br />
adjustments, family conflict, couple distress, grief/loss, substance abuse, and<br />
other emotional/psychological issues. Clients come from a wide range <strong>of</strong><br />
educational, ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds.<br />
The PSC’s psychological services are primarily provided by master’s,<br />
doctoral, and post-doctoral trainees under the supervision <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Adler</strong> <strong>School</strong>’s<br />
core faculty (licensed clinical psychologists). Additional supervision may be<br />
provided by adjunct faculty or individuals holding supervisory responsibility at<br />
satellite locations.<br />
Clinical Training: The PSC <strong>of</strong>fers a Pre-Doctoral Internship Program in<br />
Clinical <strong>Psychology</strong> that is approved by the American Psychological Association<br />
(APA) and is a member <strong>of</strong> the Association <strong>of</strong> <strong>Psychology</strong> Postdoctoral and<br />
Internship Centers (APPIC). The internship is a partially affiliated program,<br />
reserving four <strong>of</strong> its five positions for <strong>Adler</strong> <strong>School</strong> students. The PSC’s<br />
internship program participates in the APPIC match process.<br />
All trainees <strong>of</strong>fer clinical services at the central clinic and a community<br />
based satellite. A trainee will be assigned to a particular community satellite<br />
based on his/her interests, training and education needs, and abilities. In<br />
addition to providing direct clinical service, trainees receive individual, group,<br />
and peer supervision; participate in case management and case disposition<br />
meetings; and attend didactic workshops and seminars. For more information<br />
