university, held senior roles in a number <strong>of</strong> industries in both the private and<br />

public sectors, most recently as Manager, Employee Wellness, where she was<br />

responsible for the company's occupational health and safety, wellness,<br />

Employee Assistance, and Return to Work programs. Her research interests<br />

stem from her business experience and are in the areas <strong>of</strong> worker wellness,<br />

how workers are coping with change and transition, evidence-based practice<br />

for career counselling in Canada, the impact <strong>of</strong> change on workers,<br />

outplacement counselling, the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> wellness programs, and<br />

measuring the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> Life Review groups. She is an expert in the<br />

Critical Incident Technique qualitative research method and has a number <strong>of</strong><br />

articles published or submitted for publication. She continues to be actively<br />

involved in a number <strong>of</strong> research projects and with her private practice.<br />

Kathleen Irvine, Ph.D., Director <strong>of</strong> Training and Community Service<br />

Dr. Irvine serves as Director <strong>of</strong> Training and Community Service and a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> core faculty at the Vancouver Campus. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselling<br />

<strong>Psychology</strong> from the University <strong>of</strong> British Columbia in 2003. Her BSc is in Food<br />

and Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and she worked as<br />

a Clinical Dietitian for 17 years, completing a Masters in Counselling during this<br />

time at Acadia University in Nova Scotia. Dr. Irvine is a Registered Psychologist<br />

with the College <strong>of</strong> Psychologists <strong>of</strong> British Columbia. She is also registered as<br />

a psychologist in the North West Territories and as a Certified Counsellor with<br />

the Canadian Counselling Association. Her previous experience includes<br />

working with clients with Eating Disorders (as a dietitian and as a counsellor)<br />

and as a psychologist with the Correctional Service <strong>of</strong> Canada, where she<br />

provided individual therapy, group therapy, and psychological risk assessments<br />

for incarcerated and paroled male <strong>of</strong>fenders. Her academic and research<br />

interests include ethics, spirituality, issues <strong>of</strong> diversity, and counsellor education<br />

and training.<br />

Asa-Sophia Maglio, M.A., Ph.D. (c) Core Faculty<br />

Ms. Maglio completed her B.A. at Simon Fraser University, and her M.A. in<br />

Counselling <strong>Psychology</strong> at the University <strong>of</strong> British Columbia. She is in the final<br />

stages <strong>of</strong> completing her Ph.D. in Counselling <strong>Psychology</strong> also at UBC. Ms.<br />

Maglio completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University <strong>of</strong> Utah’s<br />

Counselling Centre. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia<br />

and has experience in clinical assessment, psychometrics and research methods.<br />

Michael Mandrusiak, Psy.D., Core Faculty<br />

Dr. Mandrusiak received his Psy.D. and his M.S. in Clinical <strong>Psychology</strong> from<br />

Baylor University and his B.Sc. from the University <strong>of</strong> Alberta. He completed his<br />

APA and CPA accredited predoctoral internship at the University <strong>of</strong> Manitoba’s<br />

Student Counselling and Career Centre and his Postdoctoral Fellowship at<br />
