Injuries and numerous other publications that have appeared in the peerreviewed<br />

and popular presses <strong>of</strong> six different countries. He is a frequent<br />

speaker at national and international conferences and a former adjunct<br />

instructor at the Emory University <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Medicine. Mr. Taylor is a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Society for Neuroscience, the American Bar Association, and the<br />

editorial board <strong>of</strong> Brain Injury Pr<strong>of</strong>essional. He has a keen interest in law and<br />

literature and in outsider art.<br />

Thomas Todd, Ph.D., Core Faculty and Director <strong>of</strong> the Marriage<br />

and Family Therapy Program<br />

Dr. Todd earned his B.A. in <strong>Psychology</strong> at Princeton University and his Ph.D. in<br />

Clinical <strong>Psychology</strong> at New York University. He is a Diplomate <strong>of</strong> the American<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Family <strong>Psychology</strong>; a Fellow <strong>of</strong> the Division <strong>of</strong> Family <strong>Psychology</strong> (APA)<br />

and <strong>of</strong> the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy; a Licensed<br />

Clinical Psychologist, and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Dr. Todd teaches<br />

courses in marriage and family therapy, clinical supervision, research methods,<br />

and practicum seminars. His additional interests include substance abuse,<br />

eating disorders, supervision, and outcome assessment.<br />

Lynn C. Todman, Ph.D., Director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Adler</strong> Institute on Social Exclusion<br />

Dr. Todman received a B.A. from Wellesley College and a Master’s in City<br />

Planning (M.C.P) and a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning from the<br />

Massachusetts Institute <strong>of</strong> Technology (MIT). Dr. Todman's areas <strong>of</strong> interest<br />

include community development, urban poverty, and other forms <strong>of</strong> social<br />

disadvantage. She is especially interested in the ways in which social structures<br />

systematically structure the risk for exclusion and disadvantage among urban<br />

populations. Her work is multidimensional, drawing on such diverse disciplines<br />

as political science, political economy, critical sociology, urban development,<br />

public health, and systems' behavior. She has lived and worked in Sweden,<br />

Belgium, the United Kingdom, and, most recently, Italy. Dr. Todman is a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> the American Sociological Association, the International Sociological<br />

Association, the American Planning Association, and the Northern American<br />

Society <strong>of</strong> <strong>Adler</strong>ian <strong>Psychology</strong>.<br />

Jerry Westermeyer, Ph.D., Core Faculty<br />

Dr. Westermeyer earned his B.A. in History and Political Science at St. Mary’s<br />

College (Winona, MN) and his M.A. in International Relations and Ph.D.<br />

(Committee on Human Development) at the University <strong>of</strong> Chicago. He is a<br />

Licensed Clinical Psychologist and his clinical orientation is psychodynamic. Dr.<br />

Westermeyer teaches courses in psychopathology, human development and<br />

research methods largely using a shared inquiry pedagogy and his additional<br />

teaching interests include psychoanalysis and political psychology. His<br />

publications include research on successful aging, course and outcome <strong>of</strong><br />

mental illness, schizophrenia, mood disorders, suicide, work and social<br />
