University <strong>of</strong> Cambridge in Cambridge, U.K.; and a B.A. in <strong>Psychology</strong> from the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Delhi in New Delhi, India. Dr. Sandhya specializes in working with<br />

families and diversity issues. Her teaching interests include research methods<br />

and social psychology and difference.<br />

Gregory M. Sarlo, Psy.D., Core Faculty<br />

Dr. Sarlo is a Coordinator <strong>of</strong> the Clinical Comprehensive and Qualifying<br />

Examinations at the <strong>Adler</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Psychology</strong>. He is the Founder<br />

and Clinical Director <strong>of</strong> Psychological Consultations, a Private Clinic in Lincoln<br />

Park, IL. He has worked with the LGBT community providing services since<br />

1987. Dr. Gregory Sarlo has devoted his life's work to the community, served<br />

for 5 years as a steering committee member and chair <strong>of</strong> the Midwest<br />

Association <strong>of</strong> Gay and Lesbian Therapists, and works with the HIV impacted<br />

community providing studies and neuropsychological testing. He provides<br />

training for graduate students. As an Executive Council member and President<br />

Elect <strong>of</strong> the Illinois Psychological Association and former Chair <strong>of</strong> the Sexual<br />

Orientations section, he continues to keep the area <strong>of</strong> Diversity in the forefront<br />

<strong>of</strong> discussions in the pr<strong>of</strong>essional community. Dr Sarlo is the Former CO-<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> M.A.O. Programs at the <strong>Adler</strong> <strong>School</strong>. He is a Regional Presenter for<br />

APA and Project HOPE, providing training to Psychologists in Advanced Ethical<br />

issues working with the HIV population, and the Past President and CO-Founder<br />

<strong>of</strong> ACEPT (Association <strong>of</strong> Chicagoland Externship and Practicum Training Sites).<br />

Nancy Slater, Ph.D., Core Faculty and Director <strong>of</strong> the Art Therapy Program<br />

Dr. Slater earned her B.A. in <strong>Psychology</strong> at the University <strong>of</strong> Michigan, her M.A.<br />

in Art Therapy at the University <strong>of</strong> Louisville, and her Ph.D. in <strong>Psychology</strong> at the<br />

Union Institute. She is a Registered Art Therapist (A.T.R.) <strong>of</strong> the American Art<br />

Therapy Association, and a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC). Dr. Slater<br />

has taught and directed graduate art therapy programs in Melbourne, Australia,<br />

and in Beer Sheva, Israel. She has given conference presentations and<br />

consultation in countries outside the US. Dr. Slater’s teaching interests include<br />

art therapy ethics, art therapy addressing the effects <strong>of</strong> trauma, multicultural<br />

approaches to art therapy and clinical supervision. Her additional interests<br />

include art therapy research, international collaborative training and research,<br />

and multicultural art therapy intervention in response to domestic violence and<br />

sexual assault, to substance abuse, and to the effects <strong>of</strong> interpersonal violence<br />

and war.<br />

J. Sherrod Taylor, J.D., Faculty Fellow at the <strong>Adler</strong> Institute on Social Exclusion<br />

Sherrod Taylor conducts public policy research on deprivation, marginalization<br />

and poverty issues and teaches psychology, law and social justice. He<br />

received his B.A. in history from the University <strong>of</strong> Georgia, his M.A. in history<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> New Mexico, and his J.D. in law from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Georgia <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Law. He is the author <strong>of</strong> Neurolaw: Brain and Spinal Cord<br />
