faculty advisor, students then complete an integrative paper, that conducts a<br />

critical review <strong>of</strong> literature pertinent to the topic including course material and<br />

outside sources and provide an analysis <strong>of</strong> the problem that includes an<br />

innovative perspective aimed at its alleviation. The paper must be completed<br />

within 30 days <strong>of</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> the topic by the faculty advisor. Students are<br />

expected to register for this requirement upon completion <strong>of</strong> one year full time<br />

matriculation or the completion <strong>of</strong> 51 credit hours whichever comes first. The<br />

Community Service Practicum must also be completed prior to engaging in the<br />

capstone task.<br />

990 Doctoral Clinical Qualifying Examination — 0 Credits<br />

Assessment Competency<br />

Prerequisite: Successful completion <strong>of</strong> 601/611, enrollment in 602/612,<br />

approval <strong>of</strong> the Examination Coordinator. This is a clinical competency<br />

examination focusing particularly on knowledge and skills in assessment<br />

required for entry level practice as well as the ability to integration science and<br />

practice and provide service in a socially responsible manner. Students are<br />

required to submit testing protocols from a battery <strong>of</strong> psychological instruments<br />

given to a client; a detailed psychological testing report; executive summaries;<br />

a paper integrating psychological research with an issue presented by the case;<br />

and a paper discussing an issue pertinent to socially responsible practice posed<br />

by the case. Following review by a faculty member, a student meets with the<br />

faculty member for an oral portion <strong>of</strong> the examination.<br />

Intervention Competency<br />

Prerequisite: Successful completion <strong>of</strong> 990, enrollment in 604/614. This is a<br />

clinical competency examination focusing particularly on knowledge and skills<br />

in intervention required for entry level practice as well as the ability to<br />

integration science and practice and provide service in a socially responsible<br />

manner. Students are required to submit a video or audiotape <strong>of</strong> a therapy<br />

session with a client; a detailed case conceptualization <strong>of</strong> the client; a selfcritique<br />

on their performance in the session being presented; an <strong>Adler</strong>ian<br />

formulation <strong>of</strong> the case; a paper integrating psychological research with an<br />

issue presented by the case; and a paper discussing an issue pertinent to<br />

socially responsible practice posed by the case. Following review by a faculty<br />

member, a student meets with the faculty member for an oral portion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination.<br />

992 M.A. Thesis Continuation 0 Credits<br />

(Vancouver Campus Only)<br />

M.A. students, who are continuing to work on their thesis and have already<br />

registered for and completed the M.A. Thesis course, must register each term<br />

for this course and pay the required fee to remain in good standing. Students<br />
